JH Racing 11-09-2006, 05:58 PM Why schedule a race the same weekend as the biggest dirt oval race????????
Ernie P. 11-09-2006, 07:29 PM Thats a hard question to answer. For one thing, you seem to be assuming our race was deliberately scheduled on top of another. That simply isn't the case. Our schedule was set some time ago; and I have no idea when the conflicting race was scheduled. Prior to setting this date, I:
(1) Looked at everything I could find, and avoided any conflicting dates within a reasonable driving distance.
(2) Checked with ARCOR and RC-Oval.com for conflicts. There were none. RC-Oval has a special section just for track owners to post their schedules, to avoid conflicts.
(3) Looked at the schedules posted here, and on RC-Tech.
(4) Posted our schedule on the thunderroadrc.com website, here on Hobby Talk, on RC-Tech, and on RC-Oval.com; asking if any one saw any conflicts. I contacted several people "in the know" and asked them to review the schedule.
(5) After waiting some time, and receiving **NO** reports of a conflict, I set our schedule.
Some weeks later, I saw that the conflicting race date was posted. Avoiding a conflict can't be a one-sided affair. I did everything I could do, to avoid a conflict. Sorry it didn't work out. Thanks; Ernie P.
Why schedule a race the same weekend as the biggest dirt oval race????????
JH Racing 11-09-2006, 09:30 PM Ernie are you having the SMC Jaco Snowflake race this year??????
Ernie P. 11-09-2006, 11:03 PM We will most definitely be running the JACO/SMC Snowflake Oval Classic and JACO/SMC Road Course Classic races this year. I still have a few checks to do before the dates are solid; but we should have them up in a few days. I'm still having trouble confirming there are no scheduling conflicts. Like that will work. (-: Thanks; Ernie P.
JH Racing 11-10-2006, 09:14 AM Always something.
jmcminn 11-10-2006, 01:06 PM What is the battery rule for this race? are 4200 legal?
Ernie P. 11-10-2006, 01:36 PM 4200's are legal, and have been since September 1st, for all races at Thunder Road. I wasn't going to force our racers to buy 3800's to start, and then buy 4200's halfway through the season. Thanks; Ernie P.

Come on Jonathan, you know you want to make the trip.
Bill Auchterlonie 11-11-2006, 07:49 AM Couple of quick questions Ernie. Will you be using an Ifmar starting system (everyone on there own clock)? Will you be open like you usually are the day/night before the race? Lastly have you finished off my custom pit area yet? I had e-mailed you the spec's on the twenty by twenty space with three eight foot tables and red one inch double padded carpet. To also include four 10 recepticle outlets and two leather reclining computor chairs and a complete home theater system with a 42 inch plasma tv suspended from the ceiling to exactly 23.5 inches above my number two eight foot table.Oops almost forgot. Dont forget about the pit towels for the tables. On second thought dont worry about the towels,,,I dont want to sound like a pain in the neck. O.k. now I'm ready to go racing!
Actually, let me check my work schedule and ask the wife. If its open and cleard by the misses I'll be there for sure. I'm sure I can dig up a few field fillers as well,,,right guys? lol I receive no love that weekend I'm sure.
Ernie P. 11-11-2006, 08:28 AM Bill; we will be open the evening before the race, for those who need practice. I've already had several inquiries on that point. And, we'll use the IFMAR start for the heats.
As to your pit area, I have a problem. Most of your demands I can fill; but the raised dais will be hard to do. On the other hand, the two dancing girls with the fans and cool drinks are already arranged. Looking forward to seeing you again, Bill. Thanks; Ernie P.

I just want a window for my pit area! Is Mrs. P. and Granny the dancing girls you had in mind? Just kidding...
Seriously, I would like to hear more about Thunder Road and your fast approaching "2006 Virginia Oval Championships (ARCOR) (http://www.iath.virginia.edu/%7Erwb3y/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=628&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=)" .

Ernie P. 11-13-2006, 06:37 AM I had a call at the track, Saturday. Some of the New Jersey crowd wanted answers on classes, Friday opening, etc. Looks like they plan to attend. This should be a good one. Thanks; Ernie P.

Harold R 11-15-2006, 11:51 PM This should be a great race. In January Ernie is going to have the Snow Flake race too. Sounds like many great races for the winter at Thunder Road!
J-Dub Racing 11-19-2006, 06:02 PM I will have my new KSG Gen 2 ready for the race. Harold do you think you are going to run both 19 turn and stock?

Harold R 11-19-2006, 09:00 PM Joel, I think doing both will be hard but as of now I am planning on it. I plan on running Friday night hoping to get the 19t squared away then so I can just consentrate on stock Saturday. If the 19t feels good the Friday night before I will probably go for it.
JOHN B 11-19-2006, 09:39 PM cant wait till the race team r&d will be ready!!!!cmon

Mr.fastman 11-20-2006, 10:36 AM Yea - I'm in for stock and maybe 19T.
Seven 11-20-2006, 10:37 AM If we can get some more travelers, 19t will probably have a decent turn out too.
JOHN B 11-20-2006, 10:46 AM stock for team R&D!!!
Go4iT 11-20-2006, 02:38 PM I suppose I will have to come on Friday (8 Dec) to get a pit space under the heater...? What time Friday will Thunder Road be open for practice?

TBRC1 11-20-2006, 11:42 PM Well It looks like 2 of the TBRC guys should be there. Mr ASR will be in FLA at a trade show for the company and I'll be attending the company holiday party. J-Dub Racing 11-22-2006, 12:15 AM So what you are saying is I need to take Friday off from work. Oh well, I think I feel a cold coming on!!
Ernie P. 11-23-2006, 09:24 AM If you plan on having that new chassis dialed, you're going to need some dial-in time, Joel. Come play this weekend. We'll be running the oval on Saturday; and the road course on Sunday. Details, directions, maps and more at thunderroadrc.com. Thanks; Ernie P.
KRITER 11-23-2006, 05:26 PM Ernie, Larry and I plan on running Spec Truck. If not enough Trucks show we will run Stock. We also plan on coming up this Saturday and practice. KRITER.
Ernie P. 11-23-2006, 06:05 PM Kriter, I think there will be plenty of ARCOR SPEC NasTrucks. I'm looking forward to a good field of fast trucks. Thanks; Ernie P.
J-Dub Racing 11-23-2006, 06:24 PM Spec trucks are gaining popularity. Looks like a good field for the race on the 9th, and for this season! Ernie, I should have the 2 new ones done for Saturday. I may have to run them to get everything setup properly. Maybe I can show the spec boys how its done LOL!
