i'm new to this brushless stuff, i'm get a car ready to run the 4300 brushless racing class. received my novak speed control that came with the 4300 motor. ok, i thought, i buy another 4300, received the 4300.guess what? the extra 4300 motor has a different endbell on the end the wires attach. what i'm getting at i have one 4300 that the wires push through a hole, and the other 4300 wires attach to the 90"degree spade. the questions come, which is better? is one of these is a newer motor? has anyone,(i'm sure) notice this? and can anyone shed a little light on this? pro's and con's. i think there's more to just the way the wires hook up. any help!!!

Its the new motor with the tabs at 90 deg. on the old style we just solder them on the side don't push them through the holes its a pain to do that.

Novak was doing this on the newer Velocity (4.5,5.5 etc) motors since July. My 4300 had them in August. The newer tabs are much easier to solder onto.

It also turns out they have used the older style on some recent motors when they ran out of the newer style. I got a 5.5 with the old style and this is what I was told when I called to ask.

It is pretty easy to solder to the old style if you get all the sodler out of the hole. I use an aluminum tool that came with a soldering iron kit. It is kind of like a very large knitting needle (which would probably work too!). Heat the terminal until the solder just liquefies and put the point of the tool (or knitting needle) through the hole to displace all the solder. Then it is easy to insert the tinned end of the wire and make the joint by melting the solder again.

i notice that the newer 4300 the tabs looks like they run down and are alot thicker. also, spaces the end bell out .010 making motor overall longer
