View Full Version : Rebuilding MF2 Tranny-Have a few questions

As the title, I am redoing my tranny and looking for a few pointers.

I have been running the same bearing for almost two years. I do a break down of the tranny every mid season, and clean the bearing with a brake cleaner. Shoot them more with motor spray, lube with Nifteach oil, and replace.

Am I over running the bearings? The diff always feels smooth, so I went with it. The truck has tons of rip, and I never had a feeling like the tranny was bad. How often do any of you change your bearings?

Next question.

I am going to replace the bearings for the fact they have been in there for two years. Where can I buy a package deal for the tranny? I wouldn't mind bearings for the whole truck as well.

Thanks for looking, any feedback welcome.

Jerry

If you are getting alot of dirt out of the bearings than maybe it would be a good idea to swap out the bearings. I ran my MF2 indoors on carpet for along time with no bearing issues whatsoever. Just routine maintenance/cleaning.

As far as a package deal on bearings.... www.acerracing.com

I am not really getting any dirt. My main concern was just the life of a bearing.

Thanks for the link!

a trans bearing that is not getting dirty and that is getting cleaned and lubed on a regular basis, should last a hellova long time !! a wheel bearing on the other hand, that gets dirty and takes a beating can be toast in one weekend if not carefull !!

Jerry,
I have 2 plus years on the bearings in my Revo tranny and they are as smooth as when they were new. But I have been through like 10 or more sets of axle carrier bearings.
You need to make it up to Jefferson some saturday. I am running mod buggy and sock truck now. (the Revo is hibernating for the winter)

Thanks for all the info guys.

Doug-I don't know when I will get up to Ryan's, with Bumps-and-Jumps open, that is 20 minutes from my house.
