These Jada 1/64 1978 T/As have some of the most accurately replicated graphics I’ve seen! The black one is the more common ‘Y84’ while the gold one is a very limited edition ‘Y88’
In 1978, Pontiac offered a reversed pattern of the Bandit package using Solar Gold paint with a gold and black hood bird and some other goodies unique to the Y-88 T/A. The Gold Special Edition car was a reversal of the Black Special Edition cars. Instead of black paint with gold striping, the Gold Edition had gold paint with black striping. Basically, the package consisted of:
-- Solar Gold exterior with dark gold pin striping
-- Gold grille liners, I.P. engine turn, and misc. interior and exterior gold emblems
-- Black tail lamp housing and black windshield and backlight moldings

If you Notice on the Jada Toys Y88 Gold car the ‘Screaming Eagle’ is totally different than that found on the more common Y84 Black car. Also on the B-Pillars the same unique bird is applied! IMHO…these small accurate details are just part of Jada Toys ‘Keeping it Real’
