Just getting ready to put the finishing touches on a 1/32 scalectrix stock car. The car was painted with a can of red testors and the decals should be arriving anytime. So, my question is, is there some sort of protective finish I can put on this car in order to help protect the paint/decals during racing incidents? Should I put the decals on and then put a protective finish over both? What do you guys recommend?

Thanks.
Dustin

I clear coat the paint then add decals. You can dip in future after that to protect the decals. just be ware some decals run depends on how well they were made.

Sray multiple very light coats of gloss coat, followed by a light coat of Krylon Gloss finish. This will give your paint and decals very good protection.

To piggy back on Coach's response. I clearcoat after painting and the detailing of the body is complete. Then I add the decals. After they've set up, I'll dip in Future for a protective coating (or two) over the decals. Gives a good shine and cover. In the past have had the clearcoat ruin the decals because of their inability to handle the "hot" coating. Since using this process, i haven't lost any decals and I still have a nice shiny finish to the body. rr
