Hey guys,
Im new to oval rc and have a question on gearing.
What difference does it make to run a large spur and small pinion vs small spur and large pinion?
For example my tire diameter is 2.17. I want my rollout to be 1.85 to 1.90.
I could use a 112 spur and a 30,31or32 pinion and be between 1.83 and 1.95.
Or I could use a 100 spur and 27,28or29 pinion and be between 1.84 and 1.98.
Is one situation actually more powerfull or faster? Does it really make a difference or do you just worry about the ideal rollout? Say you wanted a 1.96 rollout. With my tire diameter at 2.17 I would have to run a 101 spur and 29 pinion. Is that what I should do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx, Jamie
