Just want to let everyone know that our new micro shocks are here. They should be on our web site next week. You can call me direct if you want them sooner, 609-476-2371.
They feature a 1 piece machined piston that is nickle/teflon coated. We also have complete shocks with the nickle/teflon coating. Our shocks come complete except for ball cups, oil, and spring. We also have blue, black, red, and aluminum/silver colors. We also designed our own cup to hold the foam. Rebuild parts are available seperately.
We also have a 1 piece piston to fit Associated, CRC, and Silva shocks.

If you dont mind my asking and im not trying to be a smartass but why are these better then stock associated shocks?

Diff Dude

Dirtsportsman,
Your question is a good one. Our shocks are made from the best materials available. All the aluminum pieces are made from 7075 T6 aircraft grade aluminum. The tolerances are tighter and much more consistant. The shaft will not wobble like the Associated. The delrin cap is designed to help stabilize the piston. Because of the nickle/teflon coating the shock action is extremely smooth and if the complete nickle/teflon shock is purchased the oil contamination is greatly reduced.

What are the first version?? the silva's?? I still prefer the vcs shock over all of the new style shocks.. I had leak problems with all three sets of silva's i bought.. It wasnt me either. I had more then enough people build them for me... Im curious what these shocks have to offer. 40 bucks is alot to pay if there isnt much to gain.... Is the prices per shock??

And no this isnt a bash, im really curious about them..

How much longer are these then the ASC micro shock?

Mike,
The piston length is the same as the Associated piston.

Dave, I looking for the overall lenght of the complete side shock. I know the older Silva shocks and the CRC were longer, just wondering how much your new ones are.

Mike,
Our shocks are the same length.

Burbs,
If you look at the picture our shock is a complete kit. You only need ball cups, oil, & spring.

Could you explain your question about the first version.IRS never produced any shocks prior to this one.IRS was the distributor for Silva Concepts and sold the Silva shock(yes, they did leak). As far as your question what they have to offer maybe this will help. One other thing it is sold as a unit-just add oil, spring and ball cups.

Spoiler,
Our tolerances are tighter and very consistant. The internals are my own design and there are less parts than the other shocks so less to go wrong. We use 7075 aluminum in all the aluminum parts not 6061, this is a much higher grade of aluminum. Our piston is 1 machined piece not an aluminum washer pressed onto a shaft and all of our pistions are nickle/teflon coated. We just got in the nickle coated ones (P/N IRS4044) and have the plain aluminum ones (P/N IRS4040). All the testing so far shows the nickle/teflon ones are the best. I ran mine for more than 1.5 hrs. and when I dissassembled it there was no oil contamination and it stayed consistant the whole time. I could have run it longer but I wanted to see for myself the condition. They are not on our web site yet, we are waiting for the anodized ones to get here, blue, black, & red. If anyone has questions please post them and I will try to answer you ASAP.

If you look at the picture our shock is a complete kit. You only need ball cups, oil, & spring.

I run the CRC shocks, they (I believe) were complete kits also, but a "conversion" kit was also available (Just the bodies w/ end cap), this came in handy recently because I destroyed 2 shock bodies at a Velodrome race (snapped off the threaded 4-40 portion)

Will IRS also offer this type of set up?

I think their shocks were $16 and $18, so I don't see a big difference in pricing with the IRS shocks, especially if they are a superior product. Great COLOR selection for those who like that kind of "BLING"

Will they be available DIRECT from the IRS website?

I Found the answer by visiting the website... :) looks like the answer to all is YES - very cool

Burbs,
Sorry I did not reply to your question, I guess I didn't understand it. Could you ask again?
Our shock is more expensive because we use only 1 parts that is not sourced by IRS. We took the time to designed our own foam cup and produce it. Also our 1 piece piston is manufactured from 303 stainless steel and all of them are nickle/teflon coated. Unfortunately quality has it's costs.

To all the racers,
The good thing about this sport is the are many choices for products. IRS's mission statement has always been and always will be "Making The Best Better". Please feel free to make the choices you are most comfortable with.

Mr Meat68,
We did add an o-ring in the kit for the delrin cap. As with any of the shocks if there is to much oil in the body it will find a way out when compressed.
One of the things I have learned is most racers build their shocks with to much rebound. You do not want you shock to rebound fast. If you build your shock with minimum rebound you will find that most of them will not leak. I like my shocks to rebound very slowly to about half way.

My CRC shocks never leak... if you leave too much oil in them, it will seep out until the pressure is removed.

Comparing to the Durashock, looks like Xerox is in charge of IRS's R+D department.

I've ran both the sylva's and CRC's and never could get the Sylva's to quit leaking no matter how much oil I put in them,my CRC's however have never leaked as long as I built them right, but the one thing that I still can't get from either shock is consistency on both sides,I'll be trying out these new shocks for sure, gotta love that IRS quality.

sorry for the confusion, i got the crc shocks a few months ago, never got any o-rings from them.

as far as building them, no problem there... its just the one shock that leaks, the other one is fine. i also have a set of silvas on my boy's car, they leak when they're empty, lol. i'll have to try out these new irs shocks.
