You have to draw trace the image into lines....Right now it is dots that make the image what it is.How a plotter works is,It see's a series of lines that makes the image,If there our no lines then it can't cut anything.....Hope this helps.....Now I use a vinyl printer cutter so I could print thaat image and put a cutline on the outer edge....Thats why you see adds that say vectorized images for cutting..This means they have cutlines...

In the post above is an example of a racecar I did using my vinyl printer with cutlines....As far as how do you do that.....You need to read any books that came with your software..I use Flexisign 7.6 pro It is pricey but it lets me do just about anything...There are drawing tools with every sign program...As you spend more money these tools tend to work for you a little easier..... Hope this helps... Justin

In flexi sign 6.5 pro when i want to trace something i use the point tool to create points on the line you want to cut.Just get the point tool and click to create points on the line you are tracing. The lines from point to point will be straight so you have to bend them untill they match your trace line. But a line can only be bent one way so you will need a few of them.Hopefully you can understand im not really great at giving instructions.lol BTW nice work jrbcells i really like the number. It can be tough to make something that looks clean and fairly simple.

I use flexisign myself, and am a beginner too. I think there's something to do with "gray scale" you have to convert the image to "gray scale" then you can vectorize it, I use auto trace.

I'm having a harder time just importing stuff  .

Ok this isn't directly related to this question but still has to do with vinyl. If a guy were wanting to get a vinyl cutter to make his own stickers but NOT break the bank, what would you guys suggest? I was looking at the Roland line last night. Seems no matter what brand you look at you are looking at about a min. of $400.

Stika...They are the most economical at this point.

My 24" Master is ok, but it's not top of the line by any means...but it also didn't break the bank, but it's more than $400. If you are wanting something to do lettering and paint mask, small graphics, etc...Stika would be the way to go.

However, bigger ones do more...mine will cut almost anything, or plot with a pen, it even cuts sandblast mask, which is VERY nice for doing some of the metal work I do.

As in snagging a file off the net, then trying to open it in the flexi program, it seems to say "file not supported" often.

Are you copy and pasting or saving to a file and then importing? Most logos on the net wont copy and paste proporly. What logo are you looking for?

I've actually tried both, just as an example, the Dodge Ram. I can't seem to find a place that has it in the format I need.
