I run a stock class were no additional wings are allowed and the back of the body has to be in. The track isnt terribly big mabye 200ft run line flat carpet. I was wondering what hints you guys may have that would improve the aero dynamics of my car.

Thanks

Is it 4c Stock? If so you'll be fine, no wing required, I have never used on on carpet and do just fine and know plenty of others that at the Birds which is the biggest carpet track I know that have done real well with out the wing and bodies still intact......... NEVER FEAR you'll be fine, I also started a thread on this subject that is still out there if you do a search on the subject.......

I used to run alot on a large flat track. If you are looking for downforce, I had good luck messing with body rake, fore & aft mounting of the body, as well as flaring the front fenders in front of the tires, and flaring the side panels / fenders out in front of the rear tires and above the rear tires. On the Protoform Monte's you could sharpen the crease that already exists where the bottom of the rear side window meets the "shoulder" of the fender over the tire, that "puckers out" the side of the body nicely. Might be in the gray area of rules, but it works well on large & small tracks.

Its accually six cell. There isnt really any tech so slight mods on the body would be fine. How do you flare the front fenders? With a heat gun? Would it help to use wheel dots? BTW it is a proto monte. What should i search i cant seem to find it.

Thanks

Dirtsportsman, to flare the rear quarters, I used to flip the body upside-down and line up the crease in the body over a straight edge (sharp table edge?) and bend slightly by hand. No heat gun. To flare the front fenders, I used to use foam shims between the side of the foam front bumper and the inside of the body (Dan's dirt dots- etc. work fine) so the body was pushed out a little bit when mounted. Just a 1/4" on each front fender is noticable.

Ok so your just using the front bumper to flare the front fenders. How much should i move the rear quarters?

Thanks

Probably 1/4" as well. I would try on old body first, to see if it works for you. If you look at Wintunnel's HDX, they did a grat job building downforce into that body. It has huge shoulders over the rear tires, almost like a shelf.

Just remember about balance... If you do all that stuff to the front, you can't do anything to the back to greatly compensate. All of the ideas posted are good and work... I would suggest that you try a proto MC stock first. Once you see how the car handles, then make your changes. Remember you don't have a moveable or interchangable wing to compensate for the added front DF if you did all of that stuff first.

Good point firechicken. DIRTSportsman, I assumed you already ran the body in its stock trim. Definately try it "out of the box" first and work with it for a while.

I have heard for wingless 4 cell stock, you want a neutral body.. meaning a body with very little downforce.. Ive heard a taurus, and intrepid seem to work best. the high downforce bodys have too much front down force, and without a wing, not enough in back... Ive found the best body for me at least wingless was a bolink D type... there is two kinds thos one is HD dont get the HD..

Also the fender laring is a great tuning tool.. I see alot of guys who cut off there rear fenders..They are usually pretty loose on the track.. Ive seen mod guys do the flare, and even a few mod touring drivers..

Burbs, My suggestion exactly... If you have time and money buy a variety of bodies and try them. Of the more current stuff, the Proto medium downforce Charger. Try "medium downforce" bodies to offset the use of the spoiler. Use only what you can and not need; per say.

...not AERO related so much, but when I ran spoiler only cars, and even now on the nastrucks, I run a HARD RF tire compared to a medium hard w/ a wing. I also kick the front spring up about as hard as I can. That way I don't have to tweak it so far it lifts the LF tire off the ground.

I actually like the HD bodies that way, the extra on the front end makes the harder front stuff bite.
