that younger people can't relate to due to the internet, car mags and strategic leaks by manufacturers today but at one time a new car release was top secret and kept under wraps at the car dealership behind curtains and screens and delevered in covered secrecy. They were actually launched like the crowning of a new Miss America. With that mind set and the addition of a car hauler (I sure keep beating this don't I :p ) what do you think of this idea........?

On future GL new casting releases, the first production run comes as a combo with a matching hauler and the new release casting comes with a car cover straped down over the casting just like the cars were delivered in years back. Do it on the vintage castings, heck even do it for the new Mustang and Camaro. Paint the haulers in company trim as well so that for each newly released GL casting, a special collectibility is built in with each first release.

Thoughts?

Man, Mark, you sure are bringing back great old memories. I can still remember my dad and I going to the dealership to see a unvailing of the new models. The dealer would also have sodas, hot Dogs and popcorn to munch on as you looked at the new models. This was a BIG deal back in them days.

I think you hit the button on this one Mark!!!!!! Great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like another great idea Mark. The only problem I see with it would be the cost. Not everyone would be able to shell out that many clams at one time. That would included me. Maybe single cars in a blister wrapped the same way would work . And if it's a multi car trailer. Others could buy multi castings to add to thier trailers.

Good points. If GL can do a single car hauler for under 10.00 then the set stays under 15.00 so it is doable in theory. The blister idea is a thought to. Perhaps a release date pad printed on the car cover too? I think faux straps keeping the tarp in place is key too. I remember sneeking up to the new Mustang trying to see under the tarp. The straps kept me from seeing too much yet enough to have me hooked. Like Rick said, it was a right of passage at one time for father and son.
