hey all:there's been talk lately about weather matched batteries are nessissary in todays r/c electric racing given the high capacity of batteries these days. some say stock and 19t need the matching, but you can get away without it in mod.i'm guessing that in oval racing were only four cells are used that matched is the way to go?any info would be great thanks..

Oh by far the way to go in 4c racing, your only as fast as your weakest cell so if its bad then the entire pack is too.............

MATCHING GOOD,

I think that line of thinking came out of offroad racing. This isn't a slam on offroad, but I'll think you'll find that on the whole oval racers are much more serious, especially mod guys. Certainly there are very many serious offroad racers, but you'll find no backyard bashers racing modified oval, you will with offroad.

I think you'd find that all good offroad racers also used matched packs.

Any one who is half serious about racing will by matched packs !!!!!!

You can get decent matched 4200's for under $40.00 so how much are you really saving ?

Plus ,,, try and sell a used unmatched pack , worth nothing

Here's some info you won't get from many people...

Ready?

Buy ONE pack of Matched, and ONE pack of Un-Matched. (Worse come to worse...the unmatched pack will ONLY be a pratice pack)

That being said...RUN the UNMATCHED PACK in a Heat Race, and w/o changing ANYTHING on the car/truck Run the MATCHED PACK in the NEXT heat and compare your lap times. Just remember to use the REAL numbers...don't look at laps w/ traffic, crashes etc.

Not knowing the performance level you seek, or the competition level you are running against...I see a lot of guys running old packs, different packs, packs from cheapbatterypacks.com, all kinds of stuff. Some with very good results, some it wouldn't matter if they had the BEST Packs in the WORLD..they'd still finish 6th in a 7 car race.

Personally i would have to agree with SW. I used to run some real good REEDY Zappers (1700's) against most people running 3300's and still would beat them in offroad. I have yet to meet on a club level offroad race someone that was using ALL the potential of their battery/motor combo. And i have never run out of juice in a 4min race EVEN with the 1700's and a 10x2. If you are racng 4cell stock, batteries are usually ALOT for power, but 6cell mod offroad, it isnt the greatest asset, your driving is. Buy some cheap packs and get out there and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, thats what will make you fast.....
