hey all:thew brushless oval tour sounds like a great way to re energize r/c oval racing.i have two questions about it though.first other companies than just lrp and novak offer or soon will offer brushless motor and speed controlers so do you think the brl will consider allowing them for the next brl season?also any talk about adding a 12th scale class or two to the brl?thanks for the help

The new speedcontrols and other items just need to be check and deemed legal by the BRL,.. Im sure as long as the other companies items fall into the BRL rules and guide lines im pretty posotive they will be allowed eventually.. This is how the future is going.. Right now lrp and novak are the only mainstream items.. They are compatible with each other, and everyone has access to them.. thats the main thing i think Sonny is trying to do.. The key is to have everyone in the same boat..

Hmm... what if LRP comes out with a motor that meets BRL rules but is a tick faster then the Novak... will everyone buy one?... then the Tekin comes out and is slightly faster than the LRP... will everyone feel they have to get one... then Novak isnt selling motors so they tweak their brushless to be a little faster... will the cycle ever end? The only way to keep this from happening is to limit motors to Novak only and have Novak agree to make the motor a "BRL spec" motor with no changes for a specified number of years.

That scenario is probably not going to happen, so don't worry about it. First off the BRL isn't a democracy Sonny will allow or not allow things at will. That is a good thing! I doubt he'll be allowing any other motors and if he does it'll be after a bunch of testing.

That being said I doubt you are going to see other manufacturers copycat the Novak motor. What would be their incentive? Novak was first (in the racing market) and Novak has their niche. Other manufacturers will step past Novak with "better" motors. I don't mean better for our purposes of oval racing, but better from a technology standpoint.

Basically, you're not going to see a motor war in an effort win our business. We're a very very small drop in the bucket. A motor war to try and win the backyard bashers, offroad and monster truck guys would be a lot more likely. That's where the people and the money are. Also, you will never see Novak keep a specific motor in production just for us.
