jenzorace 11-06-2006, 01:56 PM I believe the track record for 4300 was SHATTERED yesterday. As far as i knew Klyber had the record with 76 5.00 Well Mike Makus upped the annie, He did 77 in his second qualifier. I was being a good boy and stayed out of his way. In the a main there was 7 or 8 cars, He piloted his missle to 78 5.00. I even seen him get out of shape twice. Calling all you fast guys. Guaranteed some super fast action at Vinton. 79 laps is comin... Give em hell mike.

How about some more practice time this time around Sonny?
Hays Jr
Sonny B 11-06-2006, 09:53 PM Wow!!! looks like we are off to a great start. I really think we are going to be close to 100 cars for the Lefthander R/C Hawkeye Classic.
Time permitting I plan to give the mod car a try again, and I’m also bringing Vinton’s hometown hero and 1/12 scale legend with me for some 4300 action. Might even see a special guest in the BRL house car.
Sounds like Mr. Makus has the 4300 car working well (great run yesterday) so you should have enough time to get the mod car dialed in.
Not trying to single anyone out but I want to address the practice issue. It’s a two day show and you will get at least 3 and maybe 4 quality controlled rounds per class, plus some open time.
The R/C oval world seems to be e a little spoiled in terms of to amount of practice needed for a race. In most other forms of organized racing (full size or major R/C events) you get far less on track time before a race. Part of racing is being prepared and making the best out what you have. It’s a flat carpet oval and the practice schedule is the same for everyone. I’m sure even with limited runs the good cars and drivers will find their way to the front. In short we can spend all day practicing or we can actually race.
If your coming to a BRL event understand we are about RACING not endless practice for it.
haysreeling 11-06-2006, 10:49 PM I'm not trying to start any sort of argument, I guess I was thinking along the lines of Saturday night when practice closed at 8pm at joshs. The track could have been left open for ATLEAST another 2hrs. Its not like anyone needs to get home early or anything, nobody is going anywhere, and if your going to drive 4-12hrs to a race its nice to have some track time. My guess would be that most of the racers would rather stay and practice as opposed to leaving the track early and eating, especially if they had some trouble in qualifying. I'm NOT suggesting Friday practice, just maybe some more open practice when the track isnt being used such as between rounds, after drivers meetings and after qualifying saturday night. Either way I had fun at the last race and cant wait for this one.

philb1 11-07-2006, 07:19 AM Hometown Hero? Well now it IS an event! I'll bring my sharpie for his autograph
I'm with Hays on the practice. Friday, no practice, fine. Half the fun of racing these cars is working on the chassis. Not many of us get to race in these high bite conditions very often. When the bite in the track is up, like Saturday night, thats when people wnat the most practice. I will be fine with whatever the rules are, and will still have fun like I did at Josh's, just trying to voice my opinion that I know a lot of us share.
