I haven't been a big fan of the show Overhaulin lately as the 1:1 especially the classics of the 60's and 70's got a little too cartoonish for me. Maybe this was a repeat but they took a Buick GS 400 (68-69?) rag top and did a paint scheme I must say was pretty original.

Foose two toned it. Artic white on the sides, deep purple from the top edge up. After the base was laid down he took palm reeds, leaves and plants, actually placing them on the hood and trunk and ghost sprayed another shade or purple to create a kind of "jungle look" on the car. After it was cleared I must say, it really looked cool. They were going to go with more original style rims but opted out on more Dub looking things but still the total job was a very nice change.

I guess I'm a big fan of trying something a little different or cutting edge. Would like to see Mike G try this type of different scheme on the custom version of the GL canvas he gets to work with. Going back retro I even like the "Mod" tops that were a complete flop in the day with Mopar yet today stand out at every car show I see them at.

Any body see that ep? Does anybody agree or do you prefer vanilla?

I saw it.

Not so sure it grabbed me in the same way.

Foliage camo has been around forever and purple "camo"well, can you say," pimp my ride? "
I did like the purple color, as well as the white pearl but not so much in that scheme.

I'm a big fan of bone stock colors, when the GL cars look as good as they do.
I guess that all stemmed from the 80's-90's,when pastel scallops were big.:drunk:

so yes,I suppose that would be vanilla for me.
Almost like a majestic mountain, with undusturbed snow, covering it's apex.

on a side note;
I'm getting really bugged by a few of the recipient "stupid people", who don't even know,or really appreciate what they have.
case in point;last weeks(?)young girl with the Comet convertible.

quote:"awesome...cool...awesome...pretty...tee-hee-awesome"

this weeks;Vince Neal explaining how he deserved it because he was found beaten in a desert with a hole in his skull.

I mean,who hasn't been there?

I agree on the process, the whole time I'm thinking rainbow nation and I stuck with it thinking one of two things. 1st, either I place a hit on Foose for ruining a Buick GS and 2nd, what if? I'll be darned if the "what if" won out. That deep purple (smoke on the water) just worked for me? The camo intrigued me too?

Did you notice the other more factory looking rims? Man that was the rim baby!

I guess I'm inviting Mike G and GL to maybe once in awile look outside the box. My last thought is....Rob and vanilla....yeah right!;)

Owning a 68 Skylark gave me the same thoughts. I bust my butt to keep it looking nice in this schizo area and some Cali-homer gets his car turned into a 200k custom and like you said, gee, that's cool.
