Mark Hosaflook 10-31-2006, 02:12 PM Would love to see this type of flame paint job on GL's as well.

check out the blue flames...actually the whole site. Don't know if pad printing is there yet but man is that cool.
Instead of BWF....Skulls with flames!!
pms485 10-31-2006, 02:18 PM Interesting. I'm not sure if pad printing process is up to snuff either, but they are cool! Isn't it odd that ink jet printers have been advancing to the point that you can't even hardy see the dots anymore, but pad printing is still in the dark ages?? :p
Mark Hosaflook 10-31-2006, 02:25 PM Can you replicate that type of flame Mike with your photoshop software? I thought I saw Jada or somebody like that do this type of flame so it must be possible? I can do it with an air brush but lordy on 1:64th would that be a trick! You could do many, no all of the GL's in that type of format as far as I'm concerned.:)

...rings a bell. A pickup or something? If done right, I think this would look great.
RobDog 10-31-2006, 02:43 PM I plan to do some small scale RF experimentations , when the Humidity drops around here.
Mark Hosaflook 10-31-2006, 02:43 PM Here's some other examples that I think would apply well to GL.

click on the gallery. That Willys is awesome, you can apply that to any car, please! That Chevy truck in real flames is just killer. I see Robdog in the Avalanche;)

On a 1:1 when you use a curl and move it or use the actual flame from something like a welder.......I myself have had little to no luck being able to replicate that with a Badger air gun. I'm sure somebody out there has a trick and if so, please share it because "real" applications don't scale down well.
Mark Hosaflook 10-31-2006, 02:53 PM The thing "almost not fair" about real flames is when in the hands of an experienced guy, it takes but a fraction of the time to do this style compared to laying down old school flames that is very very time consuming.
Anybody remember the Foose Overhaulin episode when they brought in a specialist who kicked out killer flames on both sides the hood and a dragon on the rear end in about an hour.
Hubba hubba!
Mike, I'd love to see it on a GL, I think others would too.

darkwiz 10-31-2006, 06:13 PM Those flames kick butt and would look good on a GL casting. I believe they were done on a Muscle Machine Merc but on a bigger scale then 1/64 .
Guntownal 11-02-2006, 10:43 PM I've always been a fan of classic flames, but this new style of "real" flames is pretty cool. If done right & on the right car I would buy it. The only 1/64 with real flames I have is a Muscle Machine pickup. I posted it on the MM board.
Roy Nakamura 11-03-2006, 09:23 AM I picked up these custom pieces from the 2006 HW Con. Airbrushed of course..but very cool!

Now Jada Toys does have a mass production method that can replicate real flames...almost...but it's costly. Here's a 1:18 production piece. The method used is...well... 'a water slide decal' topped with a clear coat.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v61/toycarlvr/Jada%20Toys/wrx1.jpg
some real flames...
