if you check E*bay, and search the "slot car" category for Cox and Revell, you'll find lots of stuff and get an idea what people ask for it. If you sign up for an E*bay account, you can search for completed items and get an even better idea what the items have sold for in the recent past. I recently watched a couple of Revell 1/32 cars (a Firebird and a Cougar, I think) go for 30 or 40 dollars each. If the Revell set is a 1/25 scale Turnpike set, it might actually be quite valuable, I think...

Not long ago I found a big Monogram 1/24 Riverside set at a yard sale. It was pretty beat up but complete. I was hesitant to list it on E*bay because it was really big and wouldn't ship well. So I shopped it around on a couple of the slot car boards like this one and eventually traded it for a big lot of old Aurora Tjet and AFX stuff that was probably worth $300-$400...

It seems that almost any Cox car in decent shape is in high demand on the auction site. Revell is a good brand also, and will usually attract several bidders. Like ParkRNDL said, do a bit of research and you'll increase the interest and your profit considerably. If you list them, take good close-ups and be sure to list them in their proper catagories.

You could use the swap and sell catagory here, too. Be sure to have pics available.

OK, I have the Turnpike brand wrong... Turnpike was a set put out by AMT, not Revell. Here's an auction for an AMT Turnpike Pontiac Bonneville that closed not too long ago...

Revell stuff seems to go a little cheaper:

And Cox cars seem to be a pretty big deal:

Nice stuff to have...

Probably closer to 40 years old. Cox wasn't making slot cars in 1956.

Pictures would help.
