Put a little valve grinding compound on the rod and rod cap Put the bolts back in,and just snug them. Then hold the crankshaft at each end and spin the rod/piston around and around.Thghtening the bolts and reapplying compond as needed. This will work....but it takes a while. And leaves the crankshaft journal and the rod smooth.

Check your local "Mom & Pop" machine shops. You might find one that will grind it for you for a reasonable price.
I am a machinst, but I wouldn't touch a crank journal in my home shop!

Oh, well it depends on the crankshaft, around here it costs about $50.00 to have a crank turned under, and that is very close to the replacement cost of many cranks, so I just replace them. Now if it were on a twin cylinder or larger engine, then I will have them turned. Most of the time the damage extends beyond the crankshaft to the cylinder, cams and bearings in the engine making rebuilds not very cost effective!
