It looks like March 23, 24, 25 will be the dates this time according to the dates shown for the car show that happens the same weekend. I hope MB Racing holds the race at the speedway again this year. It should be a big event as it usually is. I hear a bunch of Nitro cars, .09 and .12 will be there and rumor has it that Daytona will be the first race in a series of races run all over the southeast for the nitro cars. To tell you the truth it should be the first FOCAR race of the season as well. I am sure when Mike Bean gets all the details nailed down he will post them here. If you have never been to this race you have really been missing out. I mean really, how many r/c racers can say they got to race @ the Daytona International Speedway? I sure would like to see Novak step up as a mojor sponsor of this race to further promote brushless racing.

cliff it will not be a focar event. bean and his crew would like the race to have it's own identity.

but i can't wait for this race!

If you look at the daytona beach car shows website they put a vidio up about r/c car racing, it's cool. I made my reservations for the race yesterday at the La Quinta near the speedway and next to the Winghouse, only $79.00 a night through the weekend! I think we will see our largest nitro pan car race ever this year as folks are coming out of the wood work asking about this race!

What is the race schedule for the weekend? Will there be racing on Sunday the 25th? Also can you post the web site for the car show?

I have only made plans for room through the 24th. I was told that there was no racing on Sunday.

Echeconnee
12-14-2006, 09:15 AM
Larry the race is 3 days long because we have to be out of the speedway by 6pm every day. There is practice Thursday and part of Friday and qualifying starts on Friday. The mains run on Sunday and we are done around 3pm. We are coming down on Wednesday as I have family in Ormond and like to combine a visit with the race. We are staying @ the La Quinta on Speedway Blvd. We got a rate of 79.00 per night which is really good for that weekend. The website for the show is www.motorsportsracing.tv/msr001.htm there is a cool video the car club did of our racing on the opening page. Again the race dates are March 23, 24, 25 2007.What is the race schedule for the weekend? Will there be racing on Sunday the 25th? Also can you post the web site for the car show?

Larry what Mike has done in the past is.

1> just about guarentee you no one on track on Thursday. Set-up pits and drop trailers has been allowed in the past.

2> Friday's schedule will depend on the weather.
a> Looks good for the week-end then practice all day on Friday
b> Rain in the forcast for the week-end practice then one qualifier on Friday.

3> Saturday schedule , as many qualifiers as he can get in before 5-6 pm. We MUST be out by 6 pm. Last year they were pushing us for 5 pm. We are at the mercy of the Speedway Gestapo. Wait till you meet them LoL!!

4> Sunday schedule , again the weather is the factor
a> Looks good then 1 qualifier and the mains
b> Rain in the area , mains and we are out.

Mike and his Team has always tried to get as much racing in as possible. Everybody seemed to really like the all day Friday practice the last couple of years.
This is a well run race every year.
You can get to your pit area early in the morning each day. usually by 6am the gate is open by the Speedway Gestapo. Just make sure you have your pass/ decal in the window.

Make your motel reservations ASAP. This is a huge car show and the motels close to the track fill up quick. A bunch of us are in the LaQuinta 79$$ a night and close to the track.

I'm sure Mel or Curt will start looking at this thread on a regular basis.

Remember everything I stated above is subject to change according to Bean's Law. LoL

Thanks Wade for the the info. We plan on getting there on Thursday. I have a room at the LaQuinta threw Sunday morning. Should we bring a pop-up and tables? I have heard that pitting can be inside the the NASCAR garage.

Echeconnee
12-20-2006, 02:53 PM
Racers were permitted to pit inside the NASCAR garages last year and that is what is presumed will happen this year. I would say bring tables chairs and plenty of extension cords and power strips. This is a great race, you guys are really going to enjoy it even if Mclin shows up. lol

Glad to see there is chatter about this race already! I am looking forward to it BIG TIME!

I have emailed Mike about the .09 series and everything is set I as far as I know. I will be on the phone with him too pretty soon to make sure. But as far as I know right now the RC-Oval .09 Series will hold it's first race in conjunction with this one. We will all race together, it will just be a race within a race.

Question: For those that pitted in the garage area last year, did you have to tear down and pack up every evening or were you able to leave everything there over night? And is there plenty of spaces?

Second: Does anyone have a towel big enough for Cliff to cry in when an old man cleans his clock?

Donnie_99
12-29-2006, 11:28 PM
last year we left tables and chairs in there but the important stuff Mike asked us to take it with us just in case. there was plenty of room

Echeconnee
12-30-2006, 12:04 PM
Lin, I kept my towel from last year, I had a great car to start with but it went downhill from there until I was finally just in the way in the main but my Team mate Andy, took up the slack and drove away with the win. James will be "VERY" prepared this year and will be a tough nut to crack. He was very fast last year, just had more speed than luck, lol.Glad to see there is chatter about this race already! I am looking forward to it BIG TIME!

u have to bring generator if u run your a/c at least thats the way it was last year

Echeconnee
12-31-2006, 03:03 PM
I would bring a generator anyway if you have one, just in case. You probably won't have to run the air and 2 rigs can run off one generator if neither is running air.

wade
12-31-2006, 08:14 PM
Remember last year Mike plugged us all in to the tracks outlets. and No-One ran a generator. But I would still bring one anyways.

Sam we are in the La Quinta 386-255-7412
79$$ night. We will be arriving on Friday morning at zero dark 30
No reason to be there on Thursday.
Sam You have that Custom Works car ready for Branford on the 7th ??
