after a little more resaerch i have figured out that there is a watch type battery on the mother board, CMOS could the battery dying be related to bios problems?

The manufacturer of the computer should have the program and .bin file to flash the BIOS. If the battery was dead that all that would happen is your clock would be wrong when you booted up.

ok i called the manufacturer and they basically told me to do one of two things, get a new computer or replace the motherboard. i was looking in to replacing the motherboard since i found one online for about 150 shipped. how difficult is it to install a motherboard, is it plug and play (for some reason i highly doubt it's plug and play, that would make this job too easy) or is a little tougher than that?

i was able to access the boot sequence of my computer, is this the bios? i saw that the floppy drive (A: ) was set to boot first, should the hard drive be set first or is the floppy first?

Nope, the boot seq. is not the BOIS so much, but that info is stored in the bios. The seq. is correct. I have a feeling you have other problems then the bois being corrupt. If you get the same style of motherboard it is pretty much plug and play.

okay back online, i was in eckerd today and saw the battery i needed for the cmos, so i said what the heck it's only four bucks. i pull the old one out and pop the new one in, hit the big round button and she boots right up. did i possibly reset something when i removed the old battery?? I have no idea what i did, but it works fine for now.

nope nevermind it's back the way it was with the problem, it worked fine for one day with the new battery. bringing it to the local computer shop to have them take a look at it, if they tell me it's not worth it i will pick up a new one at staples.
