A big thanks to Katie for giving me the tour so-to-speak and letting me see the products!

Why? GreenLight is going to make thousands of them. That's strange. :p

:)
robmcin 10-23-2006, 11:20 AM The Green on the regular 442 is not quite correct, I was told, and will be a much better looking green.
Having a Green regular release should drive the scalpers (and collectors) nuts!!
Mark Hosaflook 10-23-2006, 01:16 PM Many thanks!
Was there any other items that stuck out to you that grabbed your attention in the collectible world? Doesn't have to be die-cast, slots other scales, RC etc. Anything else really cool?
Mark Hosaflook 10-23-2006, 01:32 PM Dumb question time.......was there a special iHobby GL casting?
robmcin 10-23-2006, 02:01 PM Grabbed my attention?
1/32 scale slot cars - ferarris, lambos, lotus, jag, etc
these fantastic ships - galleons, clippers, queen mary, battleships, cruisers, destroyers - like 48" long and $500... but talk about detail!!!!!
and a 1/5 scale Ferrari 250.... only like $5000!!!! I liked it.. but not that much
a lot of cool planes and helicopters and the train setups were fantastic
I did not see or hear of a GL iHobby special car.. of course I was at the Round2 booth twice and never heard about the special slot car they did either....
RobDog 10-23-2006, 02:02 PM The"flames" 67 Impala turned out sweet!
I dig that Hemi Cuda engine as well.
It would go fine, with my Revell Chevy 327's and Ford 427
Lpgeoteacher 10-23-2006, 02:10 PM i want to see a close up of the "Dosn't matter" Card! Wow!
Inciteful 10-23-2006, 03:15 PM Dumb question time.......was there a special iHobby GL casting?
Sorry, no special casting from GL at the show, but Auto World did have a special slot car which I obtained... ;)
BluntFronts 10-23-2006, 03:33 PM I can't believe that they made the hood on the Cutlass wrong!
It looks terrible...I can't even force myself to buy that model...I'm stunned that someone at GL thought that the chopped off hood panel was acceptable!!
Don't they have any pictures or the real cars to look at? (Uh, try "Google: Images")
(& don't give me the excuse of "it can't be done" or that "it's too expensive" - didn't JL manage to cast the Cutlass hood center panel correctly?)
Geez, the front end of any car is the most important part to get correct. It's basically the car's "face". Shouldn't the diecast version look like the 1/1 car that it's meant to represent?
That feeble little nub on the Cutlass hood where the central tooth is supposed to be looks pathetic!!
That's very disappointing work from a company that I had thought was really on the ball up until now...oh, well, it's just more of my money saved (for next year's JLs, I guess!)
Mark Hosaflook 10-23-2006, 04:01 PM Maybe it is not too late to get the factory to fix it? That's why these boards can be helpful. I understand your feelings and it seems GL likes to get things right so perhaps now that they know, it can be tooled?
pms485 10-23-2006, 04:05 PM ... didn't JL manage to cast the Cutlass hood center panel correctly?)
No.

The GL actually doesn't bother me one bit. I'd MUCH rather have this than a small piece that'll break off easily.
RobDog 10-23-2006, 05:47 PM It doesn't bother me a bit.
What bothers me is, I still have the Title to a 1:1, 1970 442.
It was stolen from me in 1980 and was never recovered.
see? ...things could be worse.
BluntFronts 10-23-2006, 06:51 PM No.

I dug out my JL club car, and realized that the reason that I thought it was cast correctly is that the parting line betw the center hood and the lower center panel is so tight that it's almost imperceptible (unlike the pic quoted above.) I doubt that I've ever opened the hood since I've owned it.
I'm surprised that it fooled me, but it is fitted very tightly. (I wish they were all that way.)
Anyway, I still think that GL should improve upon that which already exists and cast the Cutlass hood correctly. Why not?
They might want to demonstrate their design and production prowess by giving us a Cutlass center panel that looks like the one on the real car.
(I can't imagine that it would break off if done correctly, pms485; how much stress do your 1/64 car hoods undergo during regular use?! ;) )
Perhaps it's the old HW redlines Cutlass that I'm thinking of with the correct length hood tooth...now I gotta try to find my old Olds to check it out!
Pewter02WS6 10-23-2006, 06:57 PM i just soiled my self!!!

stangcollector 10-23-2006, 10:10 PM Any dates on when series 2 of the stock and custom are to be released?
Atencio 10-23-2006, 10:17 PM Maybe GL couldn't make the Olds hood right because that metal tab might have been to structurally weak or too hard to make a mold. I think the 442's look sweet.

I checked the HW RLC 442 from two years back give or take. It has the proper hood design. So I guess it is dueable.

check the Reno Diecast site on the left under sponsors. I picked one up, it's sweet. one of the few I haven't ripped open - the card art is sweet!

Katie said that they should be here in November. As I had said earlier, they were supposed to get all the cars to display, but they didn't get them at the show except for the 442's (and a couple of mock-ups that were not supposed to be shown).
