Hi All...I'm new to this forum, and have a question. I recently purchased a 1:18 scale version of the movie car THE CAR by ERTL. The original is black, but this one is raw metal. The seller claimed it was a limited edition with only 50 made and that it was 'just as rare as the American Grafitti car'. I do not know what he means by that, and cannot contact him. Can anyone here shed some light on this, and to the validity of this model. Thanks!

Its probably the chase car . Id say more than 50 were made . More like 100 - 200 is normal .. Depends on how many regular cars were made . Chase cars are 1 or 2 % of production ..

Thanks edseldave, is there anywhere to find out about production numbers of chase cars? I tried emailing ERTL, but have yet to receive a reply. Thanks again!

If it doesnt say on the box , it probably isnt a low production run . I doubt Ertl will respond to you . Their customer service isnt known to be real good ...
