View Full Version : Destroy All Humans - (Game)
Dave Hussey 10-20-2006, 02:30 PM Last night I picked up a PS2 for my four year old so we could play some of the games aimed at his age (At $600US, I'm going to wait to get a PS3!!).
But while I was there I picked up a copy of Destroy All Humans (http://www.gamershell.com/xbox/destroy_all_humans/review.html). It looks like a total hoot, especially for those of us who enjoy 1950's sci fi. You will find a review and gallery at the link above.

PhilipMarlowe 10-20-2006, 02:53 PM The sequel, cleverly titled Destroy All Humans 2 is already out and getting good reviews as well for the PS2.
Dave Hussey 10-20-2006, 02:59 PM I know - I got this for so cheap I couldn't resist. I may have to get the second one as it is set in the 1960's so you get to disintegrate hippies!
here is a pic of the main character:

Maybe there will be a Destroy All Humans 3 set in the 1970's where you will get to blow up discos and disintegrate John Travolta and the BeeGees! :jest:

Griffworks 10-20-2006, 03:46 PM I've never owned this game nor do I own a PS of any sort. However, my kids have been buggin' Wife and I for a while now. Might have to pick it up.

My wife got me a PS2 last year, I've really enjoyed it. There are a lot of older genre & movie-related games out there you can get dirt cheap used. And it's a handy extra CD/DVD player.
some decent games with board related themes:
Battlestar Galactica
Star Wars Battlefront
Star Trek:Shattered Universe
Alias
007:From Russia with Love
Snowblind
Not exactly genre but still a blast to play:
Heroes of the Pacific
Simpsons:Hit & Run (The Homer level is incredibly fun!)
Dave Hussey 10-20-2006, 06:38 PM Hey Jeff - Toys R Us up here had a PS2 bundle that included the PS2 and one controller, plus a dual shock controller, an 8 mb memory card to save games and one Sony Greatest Hits game, all for $159 Canadian. That is the deal I bought. I would expect that is equal to about $140 US. They ae getting fairly cheap these days.
The gamer-type kid who sold my PS2 advised that its best to wait before buying a PS3 until the next production run which should have the initial bugs worked out.

JGG1701 10-20-2006, 08:10 PM Is it me or does the voice of the "martain" sound a little like Jack Nicholson?
Matthew Green 10-22-2006, 12:11 PM I Love Star Wars Battlefront one and two.
I also enjoy
Ultimate Spiderman-a whole city to swing around in!
Smackdown Here comes the pain-All sorts of wrestling goodness
Atari, Midway, Activision classics. The games I remember from childhood
Scorpitat 10-22-2006, 12:36 PM If ya like Trek, I'd advise getting the new one out, called "Star Trek - Encounters", for the PS2. WallyMart has it for $14.99, and I've been playing it for a few days now.
You can pick your eras to play in, ( after you work thru them all), and basically you helm starships from the shows, fighting off Xindi, Klingons, Orion Pirates, Gorn, etc.... You can delegate ship power to your shields, weapons, engines, sensors, etc., and you get missions to complete, loosely based on the shows and movies.
I just completed the "Enterprise" Missions, and it was a hoot. I had to fight off Xindi, and destroy the spheres and Xindi superweapon! It was cool!
You can play against human opponents, as well as play wave levels, where wave upon wave of ships attack you.
Really cool for the price, and graphics and sound are great. Narration is by Shatner, and the ships look wonderful. I plan on getting the PSP version which comes out this week, called "Star Trek - Tactical Assault".
Just wanted to let ya all know about it. Hope ya enjoy it!
"Boldly GO!"
Sincerely, Scorp.

I bought my son DAH and now DAH2 (his birthday is this Saturday, the 28th) and yes, Crypto does sound remarkably like Jack. That was the first thing I noticed on DAH. It's a fun game to play... especially when one of your weapons is the "Anal Probe"... hilarious!
wlemonds 10-23-2006, 01:12 PM I loved this game when it came out for the XBOX. I'm gonna check the new one out when I get the chance.
Didn't the first one have the beginning of Plan 9 and some scenes from the movie in it too as extras?
Nova Designs 10-23-2006, 02:45 PM Man I played the first Destroy All Humans a while back and it was one of the best PS2 games Ive ever had. I can't wait to pick up the sequel! :)
