I recently acquired both of the stock and custom green machine gto's and can not see a # on the base. I have heard of other people discussing the #'s of their green machines and was wondering if there just not visible on mine, or am i just looking in the wrong place? Also how many green machines per car in a series? The detail of these things is superb!! My fondness grows with each acquisition!!! thanx!!

The numbers are not easy to see. It's should be on the base right near the middle towards the edge closest to you.You need to shine a bright flashlight on it to either see a reflection off the package or looking directly at the base. I found it easier to look directly at the base.

Not yet, but I hear from a very reliable source (don't ask, I won't tell ;)) that they will be making these in the not-so-distant future.

I don't know if the number placement is different with the Mustangs, but with all of my Stock & Custom 'stangs, the numbers for each are near the middle toward the farthest edge (closest to the card). It's no problem to see this number on a non GM (when flipping over the clamshell blisterpack and looking at the base from the bottom), but with the Series 1 GM '70 Mustang convertible at least, the number simply can't be seen with a flashlight -- the plastic blister and covered-bottom silver cardboard inserts get in the way of viewing the reflection . So it seems as if, short of opening these particular GMs, their number may remain a mystery ...

I don't blame you. As a "cardboard/package collector" who likes everything nice 'n' minty, there will be no way I'll be tempted to open my Green Machines. Sure, it would be nice to know what number it is (this is part of the attraction of the GMs), but it's not so compelling a question that I'd resort to actually open it up (lol). That's just my quirk. Now, a good collector friend of mine is the opposite -- he opens everything, no matter what the value. But I get the sense you're a bit like me ;). And unless a non-intrusive way emerges to check that elusive number, it will just have to stay hidden. It's enough for me to know it's 1 piece out of 50 -- and (for me anyway) that it's a Mustang GM . So, dump a bucket of cold water over your head if you have to, but if you're a cardboard collector, leave that little plastic vault alone .
