View Full Version : Bachman Charger Slotcar??????
A/FX Nut 10-14-2006, 08:45 AM One of my fellow members of the Elkhart Model Railroad Club brought a Bachman Dodge Charger slotcar for me to look at. The only thing wrong with it was the windshield post was missing from the driver's side.
I was wondering what the value of it would be? I'll ask him to bring it again so I can get some pictures of it. But any help would be appreciated now. Thanks in advanced, Randy.
Depends on the color. I only seen 2 kinds......the white/yellow and the blue/white. There is probably more color combos out there.
That missing/broken post hurts the value (obviously). A new white/yellow Charger rns $50-100 depending who wants it. I think it the common color. The blue one is rarer.
ParkRNDL 10-14-2006, 09:41 AM Yeah, I think Chargers are pretty rare as Bachmanns go. I have a couple of Corvettes and a Toyota and a Howmet Turbine from Bachmann, but I think they're more common. Looking forward to pics...

Edit: here's a couple of Bachmanns that sold recently on Fleabay. The Charger went for 40 bucks...

zanza 10-14-2006, 11:05 AM Followed some on eeebAy....sold between 25 and 40 generally, but it's always the relatively common version Yellow/White
The blue version appear almost never for sale on the bay, thus probaby not cheap as the yellow/white
A/FX Nut 10-14-2006, 09:35 PM Thanks, this one is all white. I'm going to have him bring it in again to get a better look at it. I was in the middle of operating/switching frieght cars at the RR club when he brought it in.
videojimmy 10-17-2006, 12:09 PM As far as I know.... There were two types of bachmann chassis. One was like an atlas and had screw on chassis. The Yellow/white charger fit on thebat chassis
the other chassis was a tyco pro rip off and the blue charger fit on that chassis.
The tyco type chassis is VERY rare. I've been trying to get my hands on one for years and have only seen it come up ONCE on ebay.over ths last 5 years.
Every Monday I search of one one, and still nothing.
mamilligan 10-17-2006, 04:18 PM I have been looking for nice versions of those Chargers for years. Don't forget the Charger show car they did.
I don't know what other cars fit the pan chassis. The charger is the only one I have seen and it was trashed.
Rawafx 10-17-2006, 08:32 PM I have a complete Bachmann "Blaster" set that came with a gold chrome plated Chaparral 2F and a blue chrome plated Howmet Turbine. The back of the box lists 10 cars that supposedly came as "Blasters", which was their poor quality copy of a Tycopro.

slotmichl 10-18-2006, 03:19 AM As far as I know in the Blaster sets were always only the Chap and the Turbine, both chrome plated. Same was in mine. The other Blaster cars were only sold separately. My assumption is, that the closeness to the Tyco Pro was the death sentence for these cars: Tyco had a patent on their Tyco Pro cars, and Bachmann was clearly violating the main points there. So not many of the Blasters were around. Good luck with finding one one day Jimmy!
