BluntFronts 10-14-2006, 03:17 AM I came across my old HW Collector's Case when I was visiting my parents recently. Here are some favorites from my formative years. It's probably been over 25 years since I've looked at these cars.
I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I did rediscovering them (8 pics):

Macs_Little_Car 10-14-2006, 09:05 AM Very nice!! I have always wished that my collection had survived... no idea what happened to it
GeraldE61 10-14-2006, 12:46 PM Wow, those are nice.
They look to be in excellent condition - few signs of track wear.
Martyg 10-15-2006, 09:33 PM Now I know you want to sell a few now don't ya?????? :D
BluntFronts 10-16-2006, 01:06 PM Thanks for the positive comments - I'm sure the little cars are glad to be free and appreciated again, too!
The reason they are so clean is that as soon as my brother and I realized how easily the paint scratched off, we started being very careful with all of our HWs & MBs.
In fact, here's how I kept them packed, even as a kid:

(Individually wrapped in tissues & TP!)
Also, we mainly used them on our HO train layout, so they didn't get much track action after the first couple of days of our ownership.
Now I know you want to sell a few now don't ya?????? :D
Thanks for the interest, Martyg, but I think I'll hold on to them for now...Gotta get re-acquainted with my Spectraflame childhood for awhile.
Martyg 10-16-2006, 06:24 PM  But I can't blame ya.
But if you change your mind.............;).

jlightning 10-16-2006, 11:34 PM Funny, my mom just gave me a box she said she found in the basement that had stuff of mine in it. It turns out there were 2 HW's from when I was a kid, one was a Hot Bird (the HW plane). Me and my brother used to play with the planes quite a bit, I remember them well but it looks like I only have one of them now. Sorry for the bad quality photo but I took it with my phone. The other car was a Silhoutte and the GTO Fire car my boy found at a yardsale and he wanted me to take a picture of it too. My stuff is not as nice as BluntFront's though...but still a fun find.

I have that case too but it's seen far better days!

Isn't it sad, how Washington soil can chew up a nice paintjob!
Acererak 10-17-2006, 10:30 PM Beautiful cars!!!!!!

chevyj1957 10-18-2006, 10:46 AM Very awesome finds. Wish i knew what happened to mine from the early 80s or my brother and sister cars from the early 70s.

Don't feel bad, jlightning; my Silhouette and most of my other original releases are in about the same condition as your Silhouette; I kind of cherry-picked my collection for these pix.
My first HWs aren't in this case; one tray is empty. I think I took them out in the 80's to display in my first apartment. I hope I still have them somewhere. My first three were the Fleetside, T-Bird and Cougar, and believe me, they are very well-worn.
The other night I was thinking about them and I swear I can remember the distinctive smell when opening the new blister pack of a '68 Spectraflame car. (I wonder if it was the paint?) I remember that it was a very exciting smell!!
williehunk 10-22-2006, 10:22 AM I hear ya Buddy I beleive it was the smell of the wheels and the factory where they were made. Never the less. I also remember walking in the store and seeing my first red line display in mid 1968 all those colors it was just incredible. you would have had to been there. Glad I was. Bob
allthingsrdline 11-09-2006, 09:50 AM NIce cars, if you decide to move a few, I would be interested. I have quite a bit of minty HO train items from our layout left, I also have a nice collection of slotcars; T-Jet 500 flamethrower Ford GT 40 in rare blue w/ case, unused all tan '62 Ford Galaxie vibrator in case, and several minty AFX slotcars I wish to trade off. Make it worth your while as I am focusing just on redlines now
