Can you give more info on the racing surface?

Goodwrench29
10-11-2006, 04:41 PM
Mike, the surface of the track is a lightly rough edged foam tile which are about 2'x2'. Think of it as an rc jigsaw puzzle, lol. The surface gives a little and it makes for great racing. The track is roughly about 23'x45' and I believe the drive line is 72ft. Just about any tire combo works on this surface, it's really cool. We race 2 6min. heats and a 6min. main. I think the track record is a 126 in 4:03 and were turning lap times of 2.7-3.0 range. Any other questions just post:thumbsup:

umm... Coopey, the track record is in 6:03... if you can do 126 laps in 4 minutes you are AWESOME.

Anyway, the track surface seems different, but it has all the general handling characteristics of carpet, but it doesn't rip, wear out or make your car all fuzzy.

The racing on the other hand; it's a BLAST. 3.0 second laps are average and two wide racing is typical. You HAVE TO LET OFF in the turns, which makes it even more fun. You can drive under people, run cross over moves, etc. I have been racing for 20 years and this place what r/c racing is all about.

This is a weekend race... date is set for Sunday, December 3rd. Noon start time.

Practice race on Saturday, November 18th. 2:00 PM start time (I think, but I'll confirm later). Additionally, we race weekly on friday nights with 7:30 first heat.

We will have a flyer posted on this website by week's end. Hope everybody can schedule to make it.

The easiest way to the track from Delaware is Del. Mem. Bridge to Route 295 North. Then take 295 North to exit 34A, Route 70 East. Take Route 70 East to mile marker 30 and the track will be on your left. It is located at a right hand bend in the road and the track is in the yellow building.

No problem on the directions, we are just trying to get as many people as possible to come join in the fun. We know our regular friday night schedule doesn't work for some out of towners, so we're hoping this will allow those from PA and DE to partake.

As for track size... just like anything else, it's all about about how good you can wheel.

Looks like we will have a special guest racer for the King of the Bullring, Jeff Cuffs will return to his oval roots fresh off his Stock Touring win at the US Indoor Champs at Cleveland! Jeff Had plenty of short track racing at E-town and an even smaller track at the Race Place so I expect him to adjust quickly to the Bullring...
