Hey guys, just checking interest as of right now, but talks have began with a local business owner about building a new R/C track in the Jamestown New York Area. We're 3 hours from each of the following: Rochester, Pittsburgh, Akron, and Cleveland. 45 minutes from Erie, and an hour and a half South of Buffalo. What this business owner would like to do it put it a first Class racing complex. Initial talks now are for an Indoor Banked carpet oval, with integrated road course. Infield dimensions of the Oval (tenative) are 85' long x 25' wide. Estimated Runline between 220-230. 24 degrees banking in the corners, 15 on the straights. This coming spring, talks have began about putting in a large banked dirt Oval and Off Road track. Possible even a paved touring car track. I am in the process of drawing up some preliminary floor plans. Once I have something finialized I can post it. My purpose with this thread are as follows:
1.) Check the interest of the people located on the East coast in a new facility of this magnitude.
2.) From one racer to another, I want to know what would attract you to a new track, something you want to see done differently than what's been done in the past, or something you have seen and liked from other tracks.
There will be on site hobby shop and concessions. Chautauqua mall is within walking distance, High traffic high way out front, tons of parking. Let me know your thoughts guys, thanks!

It would be nice to see a (new) track large enough to race 1/4 scale on. Qscale is growing fast.

1/4 Scale would be a possibility for one of the outdoor tracks, indoors I think it might be a problem due to ventillation. I will deffinately keep it in mind and bring it up to the track owner. Thanks for your input!!!!

Here is a question. At we had a local flat track, which we would also race EDM's and trucks on. How many of the carpet Truck / EDM drivers would be interested in driving on a banked track instead of a flat track? We don't want to exclude anyone from racing, and thinking back on a lot of the banked tracks I have been to I couldn't remember ever seeing a truck or edm on a banked carpet track. Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!

Jeff,
Why build a banked track when all the tracks in the area are flat? And it takes more local people to keep a track going than to bring in outsiders. Outsiders are good for
occasional times but they aren't here enough to maintain a track. Good inner and outer walls that are built correctly don't ruin cars. Also, ECM cars and trucks don't take to high banked tracks as well as flat tracks. Alot of national events are held on flat tracks.

We used to run EDM @ Classic Hobbies in Akron Ohio. No problem. Very fast. 6 cell 19 turn.
If you do build a track large enough to run 1/4 scale would it be dirt or pavement? I myself like flat tracks better, plus I personly think the racing is much better / closer.

Ron, I agree but it wasn't my call. The business owner who is paying for everything said he wanted high speed banked. I recommended going flat several times but he was adamate about having a banked track.
as far as 1/4 scales go it would be outside, and at this point it would be hard to say whether it would be flat or not. They want to put in an offroad track and dirt oval first.

I heard there is a new 1/4 scale dirt oval track opening up in 2007 near Ransomeville NY.

How about low or progressive banking. With low banks the T.C. could run on that part of the track too. All the tracks are either flat as a board or banked like talledaga I think something in the middle would be a nice change.
