I am just about out of my 3 year supply of aluminite.. ( took 4 months lol).. I was curous on what everyone else uses and the reason. I was wondering if I should try something else just to see what I feel better working with but value others opinions on whats good whats not..

Try the Smooth-On's Smooth-Cast 300 and MicroMark CR-300 Resins I like both better than Aluminte. Aluminite is much more sensitive to mixture ratio than these. They are very close but I normally buy the MicroMark because it is much more convient with the bottles it comes packaged in with the pour spout.

Hey Roger,

What kind of shelf life does the Smooth-on resin have once the bottles are opened and a part of the resin has been used? (I guess it doesn't matter if part of the resin's been used or not, once the bottle's been opened, eh?)

I always had good luck with the Micro Mark product back when I was casting.

Don't know I have never had the MicroMark go bad. I did have some Smooth-on Color Cast go bad on me though. The Micro Mark bottles have regular tops and pour spou tops. If you buy some Dry-It, Extend -It or other nitrogen type products you can spray some in the bottle and put the regular top back on and it should last for a long long time. Moisture is what kills resin so anything that displaces the ait in the bottle will help the resin last much longer
