Been beating this one for years to others..........It's a well known fact (at least this is what Mike G told me) that the GL rim is often a two piece system creating more detail in the process. The question is, since GL is obviously targeted as adult collectibles and hopefully there is no issue of easily removed parts being ingested by an infant. Would it be cool to see GL include more than one rim/time option in a casting series. I know GL has stayed away from side items as a rule but if they did a two piece system that can be manufactured to change out so you had a choice in perhaps a special series (doesn't have to be across the board), wouldn't that be pretty damn killer? I think they would bring the custom guy into the fold and for those who may be turned off by an occasional corporate choice of rim, would no longer be an issue as you swap out for the other set. Maybe one bone stock and the other custom. Redlines vs. white letter tires etc. The key is the design of it. I think it has merit.

Here's an example. I'm not fond ofthe gold GTO rims. May keep my from buying that casting. Now, if it had another set, perhaps like the redlines and stock rims of the other GTO versions that I could swap then I'd be more inclined. For the very same reason, somebody may buy that GTO because of the custom rims on that casting so both parties are happy and no sale is lost. This would be a feature on a series, not every GL, then again.........?

I also would like to see that, but I dont know how well it would sell.
I Only say that because JL did those sets that you put together the car. (came with little screw driver) And those wheel kits. I never see those around. They were cool. I couldnt find a pic on the net of them...
Since GL does very limited run, I think it could work.
If they did mopars with diff wheel kits, I know id buy em, LOL

The flaw there, for lack of a better word, is that sometimes the fit and finish were not up to par. The days of kits seems to be well past us as well. Many were not really into making a whole car but rather offering a rim/wheel swap without a degree in engeneering required. Snap on....snap off. Those jewelers screws can get tough on the eyes and the fingers. lol

The only problem I see is that with the MCG series 2 GL got life out of the casting by changing the rims among other things. I think by offering different rims with one car that it might decrease people buying that second car. Can't say for sure but it might.
