I fill em up... use fuel stabilizer of course with some MMO.... And run em so the stabilizer is in the carb, and store it till I need it. Always starts better then draining and running em out... because theres always some gas left in them when doing that anyway... Never forget to change the oil right before you store em, and to make sure the tires are up and inflated to max psi, take the battery out if its gonna be real cold, but I never do and they are fine... Its a good time to change the air filter, sharpen/replace the blades and grease what can be greased... TechLarry 10-11-2006, 12:38 PM IMHO... Treat the fuel with stabilizer (I prefer the B&S Fuel Stabilizer Plus that has a 2year protection mixture), and put some fuel in the mower enough to run it 5 min or so. Then let it run dry. Change oil while still warm. Pull Plug, hit cylinder with fogging oil (again I use B&S), crank a few times, then put plug back in. I wrap with a cotton sheet. Keeps the critters and dirt out but allows it to breath. -Larry I see different opinions for winterizing a lawn mower can anybody tell me what needs to be done: with fuel? engine man 10-12-2006, 03:33 PM you should also clean and oil the deck so it dont rot our homelite 12hp briggs is 14 years old and deck is solid lots of power and no smoke. bugman 10-13-2006, 10:52 AM you should also clean and oil the deck so it dont rot our homelite 12hp briggs is 14 years old and deck is solid lots of power and no smoke. If it sets outside..... thats a good idea, but not on top of it of course... scrape the grass from underneath and spray the underneath... paulwest 10-13-2006, 09:43 PM BUGMAN is right on all . PAULS LAWN SERVICE bugman 10-15-2006, 06:51 AM One thing I forgot....., any pivot points (not greased, like the steering linkage, etc....) use graphite powder, etc....., any good "dry" lube.... oil attracts dirt, becomes a grinding compound then... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
