View Full Version : Education on 1/43rd scale
kevinmtg 10-10-2006, 07:08 AM Hello all.
I have collectected 1 18th, 24th, and 64th scale. The castings I enjoy the most are the 1 43rd. They are bigger then the 64 allowing you to see more detail. The 18th scale are so large and not only take up a lot of room, but also are easy to spot flaws.
1 24th are nice, but I would like to find more 43rd scale. I am working on finishing my HW american classics collection, and have found a few matchbox.
I see on here that Roadchamps seem to be big in this scale.
What are some of the others that are available. I have never found a road champ as of yet.
TheDarkCutlass 10-10-2006, 07:48 AM newrays make alot and can be found in abundance in most WM's for $1.97 ... granted details not that great...

scrambler81 10-10-2006, 08:01 AM GMP has made some nice 1/43 cars. I've got a Grumpy's Toy Nova, and a couple of Garlits' cars. Franklin Mint has also made some 1/43, but not many. If you like European cars, Minichamps is real good. Check www.ewacars.com
Most of my 1/43s are the Matchbox Collectibles line that were only available through the mail. They are nicely done, but they didn't hold much value, so you can usually get them on ebay for around $10.00, though some cars like the Cuda and Boss 429 can go for more.
scrambler81 10-10-2006, 09:14 AM Another idea came to me. I don't see where you are from, but try checking www.greattrainexpo.com and see if any shows will be near you. They have a couple of different operations, so they run shows in many parts of the country. Lionel operators buys lots of 1/43 cars for their layouts, so the big train shows always have a handful of dealers selling them. Roadchamps, Minichamps, and K-Line are some of the prominent makes.

scrambler81 10-10-2006, 11:40 AM I was eyeballing your motorhome. I have one but, I didn't realize they made WL versions of those things. I also have the rest of your top row.

Its not technically a WL, I don't think.. there was a run of 600 of them made to celebrate the retirement (I think) of one of their longtime employees. They also have text on the roof. You could buy them just like the others at the time.
kevinmtg 10-10-2006, 05:55 PM Yes, I have seen K Line. They have a store selling them here for $8 a peice I think. They are discountinued I was told.
Henri Kroeze 10-12-2006, 08:17 AM Other brands are Norev, Spark Bizarre, Replicars, Bang, Best, Brumm, Ebbro, ... the list goes on and on....
AutoArt, Paul's Model Art, Minichamps, Old Cars, Vitesse, Schuco...
It is THE scale to collect here in Europe... That's why I love the 1/64 most...
