Now that the carpet season is here and Novak has come out with the 13.5, what will the rules be for local club racing?
The BRL has special body rules for the 13.5 class, no wing and the back of the body left in. The old stock rules were basicly left open. What are most tracks doing with the body rules? I understand why Sonny has made the rules this way. There is a feeling that more realism will draw more interest in racing. But there are a lot of racers that have been running the old body rules that don't want to change. Personally I don't care either way.
At the track that I race at locally, Hensley's RC(Pontoon Raceway), I am going to suggest that we run the the class with either motor and make the body rule as, no wing and back can be cut out. My personal feeling is that we will lose more racers than we gain with the BRL body rules. I think old racers will come back that have the 4300 motors and make the switch to 13.5.
If I'm going to a track for a regular weekly race and they don't run the BRL rule and my car is setup for the rule, I'll still go and run my car BRL style. Now if I'm a racer that isn't going to run the BRL and want to go to a track that runs the rules, then I might not make the trip.
IMO the body rules are fine for the BRL Series. I just think that some tracks might lose more racers than they gain by the body rules.

Just like to see what most tracks are doing with the rules before the season gets under way.

Just got off the phone with Jason, and at SROC, we are sticking with the stock rule also. As you suggested, if someone has the BRL body they are more than welcome to run with us in stock.

ran a car by the brl rules for the first time last weekend at the brushless warm up race, i was very surprised that with no wing and the back in, the car was very stable and fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ran the brl car for the first time and i ran the same lap times as i was running with the rear cut out. i don't feel there is a difference either way. personally i don't like the way the car looks with the back in but it still ran as fast.
