KSGMotorsports 10-05-2006, 09:09 PM KSG Motorsports would like to introduce a few new products to our line. We also will have some more items coming in the next few weeks.
KSG Traction Plates are design to give more rear traction for today’s higher speeds. These plates are .062 thick and are bias cut. There are four different styles to choose from. We will have straight cut and colored plates coming soon. Also offset plates for the Gen 2 will be available.
KSG-2150 KSG Solid Traction Plate $8.99
KSG-2151 KSG Single Slot Traction Plate $8.99
KSG-2152 KSG Triangle Slot Traction Plate $8.99
KSG-2153 KSG Double Slot Traction Plate $8.99
KSG Dual Rate Front Springs are an all new design. These springs give you a soft initial rate with a stiffer secondary rate. The springs come with a powder coated finish that won't come off with cleaners. After three weeks of racing in open mod we have seen no collapse of the springs. Three rates are available in pairs or as a set with spring buckets.
KSG-2200 KSG Large Spring Buckets Blue 12pc $6.00
KSG-2210 KSG 8-10 Lb. Dual Rate Front Spring Purple $3.00
KSG-2211 KSG 9-11 Lb. Dual Rate Front Spring Black $3.00
KSG-2212 KSG 10-12 Lb. Dual Rate Front Spring Blue $3.00
KSG-2213 KSG Dual Rate Front Spring Kit With Buckets $9.00
KSG Offset Servo Mount allows you to use small servos with out having to modify your Gen 2 chassis. It can either be used as an offset or standard servo mount.
KSG-1470 XCS Gen 2 Offset Servo Mount Blue $22.50
Look for more information on the website next week.
speedracer 10-05-2006, 11:01 PM Ask your local hobby shop to stock these Awsome New products!!!
The new t-plates work great and are extremly durable.
And for the people using the smaller servos such as the futaba 9650 the new offset servo mount makes mouting these small servos a snap witout having to alter the servo mounting slots.
The new Dual Rate Front Springs are also a great new addition I have seen these spring be ran multiple times on open mod cars and they have shown no signs of collapsing.
More Great Products From KSG Motorsports.
Thanks Jim & Andy Keep em' Coming
latemodel100 10-05-2006, 11:38 PM T Plates in stock soon..........................
KSGMotorsports 10-08-2006, 10:10 PM These are a few more close up pictures of the springs.
The following is to answer a few questions that have been asked.
These springs are not like a cone shaped progressive spring. They actually are two springs in one. The dual rate comes from the initial and secondary coils that these springs have. On a Black 9-11 Lb. spring you have a 9 Lb. initial rate and an 11 Lb. secondary rate. The 11 Lb. rate does not come in effect until the initial coils go into bind. When they bind the secondary coils take over and act like another spring. These springs ride the bumps a lot better than any other spring out there. You can actually see the difference when you put them on your car. For the best results run as little preload as possible so as not to coil bind the initial coils. During our testing the Black spring has worked great in open mod on flat carpet. We have run the same set of springs for four weeks now and have had no spring sag or collapse of them. Also, yes these springs are powder coated and to cure the powder you have to heat it to a low temperature. This heat actually helps to relieve residual stress created from the cold forming process of making the spring. This stress relieving helps the spring retain its shape memory which allows the spring to come back to its original shape and not to take a set or sag. We hope that you will at least give them a try because you will see a difference.

RCThunder 10-08-2006, 10:55 PM Looks great guys!
haysreeling 10-09-2006, 10:05 AM Everyone I have talked to has said these springs are AWESOME. Ran the T-Plates this summer and they too were great too. We should have some of this stuff in stock by the end of this week!! Good Job Andy/Jimmy!
The new dual rate springs have held up very well. I have raced them for 10 to 15 runs with no spring collapse at Greeneville in 19T. The springs over all free length measure 0.376" and still measure 0.376". All other springs I have used will shrink in free length by at least 0.015" to 0.020" in a couple of runs. Like Andy mentioned the power coat helps to relieve the residual stresses in the springs. Full size automobile valve springs go through multiple heat treat processes to ensure the spring will not lose load and overall length.
GILYHANTREE 10-16-2006, 12:09 AM guess i will have to get some springs when i get to greenville. i may try some of the new tplates as well.these springs make it easier for us to run a car using coil binding keep up the good work jim and andy

pancartom 10-16-2006, 09:51 AM does a 4 cell stock car need these? or are they just for mod?
speedracer 10-16-2006, 12:32 PM These spring work great in all classes.
What type of track are you running
I would start with blacks on flat carpet
brian0525 10-16-2006, 01:32 PM Springs are great and really help the car run smooth! Great Job KSG!!!!
Do the springs need to be turned any particular way?Just looking at the photo, theree are tighter coils at 1 end than the other.
hacksaw 10-16-2006, 09:18 PM Those go on the bottom DK and they are SWEET!!!!!!!Hacksaw
Danny B 10-17-2006, 08:05 AM DK,
It doesn't matter which way they are installed, they are the same diameter on each end. Remember it is a dual rate spring not a progressive. Progressives would be 8-10lb. These new springs are 8/10lb. The softer rate is gone once the "bunched" coils go into bind.
hacksaw 10-17-2006, 05:36 PM Im just going by what Jimmy told me Sat at the track!!!!!Hacksaw
philb1 10-23-2006, 06:30 AM Ran blue LF purple RF this weekend, front end was connected! Had 3800s in my car and outran a guy with 4200s.

Thanks
jonnycash 10-27-2006, 08:38 PM just picked up a set of these springs... I'll report back on them after this weekend. They look like they are going to be the ticket.

I am running a Gen 2 with a 4300 brushless. What do you guys think run the pod offset or in the middle.
I have been running it in the middle so far but have the hubs to run offset.
Allso BSR foam compounds (4300)for a 135 run line carpet track.I run a rf=silver,rr=pink,lf=purple,lr=white.it pushes for a few laps then works great,I am thinking it is the pink rr starting to work after it warms up.I am going to try a gray this week and see what it does.

TBRC1 11-05-2006, 10:22 PM Dual rate springs got em ran em love em. Between the springs and a roll center adjustment my L4 brought home the A main win today at my local track. Thanks for the killer springs. OH the track is a flat carpet oval with a 77 foot driveline and I used the blue springs on both sides.

crisis641 11-12-2006, 09:41 PM Had the new KSG Springs on the front of my ride that TQed and Won the Fall Oval Shootout at Hobbytown Hobbyplex in Omaha Nebraska this weekend. Springs are the best on the market.
jbm38 11-13-2006, 01:55 AM The "Hypercoil" equivalent in RC oval racing!!!!!
LARCGuy 11-13-2006, 04:53 AM Had the new KSG Springs on the front of my ride that TQed and Won the Fall Oval Shootout at Hobbytown Hobbyplex in Omaha Nebraska this weekend. Springs are the best on the market.
I had them on my ride for this race too. As well as when I ran on a parking lot, a flat prepped asphalt oval and on carpet. Great spring!
philb1 11-13-2006, 07:12 AM Also on the car that qualified second in 4300, TQ'd 13.5 by a lap.
What springs were you running crisis?
crisis641 11-13-2006, 01:53 PM Blue on the RF, Purple on the LF
crisis641 11-13-2006, 02:28 PM These springs are really cool. I set the preload on the RF spring so it's just sitting on the spring at race ready loads, like you can see the spring sag just a tick but you'd never be able to measure it. Then getting into the corner you can see the car compress over onto the harder part of the spring and it takes an awesome set and just carves the corner. The turn in is really sharp and then the rest of the corner just feels really consistent. Really works better than any other springs I've played with and I've tried them all.
Danny B 11-19-2006, 08:06 PM Thanks to Andy and Jim for the great cars.
I was able to Tq and Win the 4300 and the Pro Mod Division at the Hawkeye Classic, Race #2 of the Brushless Oval Tour
After laying down TQ and New Track Record in the last round of qualifying in 4300. I had a little bad luck in the Fast 5 Dash, which relegated me to a 5th place starting spot in the main. Quickly moving up to 2nd I was able to eventually close in to 2-3 car lengths of leader Frank Ulbrik, while avoiding the only wreck in the whole race Frank clipped the "ice" which opened the door and I was able to get by for the win.
The modified car was stellar all weekend, holding TQ through out. Even after breaking the chassis in the 3rd round of qualifiying and having to put a new chassis plate on Sat. night, I ran a track record in the fourth round of qualifying. I easily won the fast 5 Dash in that class. Got a good hole shot, had a little trouble with a lapper in the middle part of the race, which dropped me back to 2nd, but I was able to get back around Craig Johnson and pull away in the last minute for an easy win.
I ran Gen 2 cars in both classes also black D/R front springs, and Traction T-plate in the 4300 car.
I'll also send a couple set-up sheets for Tommy to post on the website.
Thanks Again to KSG for the awesome products and support.

haysreeling 11-19-2006, 11:17 PM Danny, awesome job this weekend. After not having the fastest car to start the weekend with you worked at it and laid it down in the 3rd and 4th round there in 4300.
Congrats,

maverick08 11-20-2006, 03:09 PM Danny B,
What kind of preload and/or sag are you running with the black front springs?
Thanks,
Todd
Danny B 11-20-2006, 03:35 PM I ran wolfe kingpins, with .100 shim on top of the upper a-arm on both sides. two thick black and one .020
Fireball929 11-20-2006, 11:53 PM I ran black RF and Blue lf with sag on both sides. And broke the track record by 1.5 seconds.
BMCALLISTER01 11-21-2006, 11:11 AM How much sag do you want?
Who can give me an e-clip to e-clip measurement on the Wolfe pins? I have Losi ones on my car and want to try out the new front springs.
Danny B 11-21-2006, 12:27 PM Haha, I actually won some losi kingpins as a door prize last weekend. I'll measure them both tonight.
Yeah, the losi ones would have been worth another lap for you DB.... Are they the 1.42 inch ones, I think that is the measurement but I don't know if that was a clip to clip or end to end. Where are the setup sheets?? I have been checking my email and have seen nothing...
Well I found the losi ones I use are 1.42 inside to inside of the clips....now where is Danny with his measurement?
Danny B 11-25-2006, 05:23 PM Where are the setup sheets?? I have been checking my email and have seen nothing...
What's it matter, SHE won't let you race anyway...lol
Danny B 11-25-2006, 05:28 PM I measured several different wolfe Kingpins. They were 1.395 on average. I do have one pair that were long like 1.416ish.
