Small crowd tonite. 4 4300 brushless guys. This track is awesome and in great shape. If you can make it and want to do some racing on a wednesday nite, this is the place to be. I'd like to thank my good friend ETOWNE for preventing me from running 70 in the main. I guess that means 69 4:00.6? is the record in brushless. If I remember right the runline is 118' and the infield in the same size as Fort Wayne. Aaron please double check the runline because the straight feel longer than Pete's and the corners are definatly wider.

There were also (3) 6-cell stock guys, however I think one of those guys is in the market for a 4300. Pat also didn't show up, I guess he got busy. He's generally a 6-cell stock guy.
For not running oval in about 3-4 years, I Enjoyed it. the 4-cell 4300 was just enough power for me without feeling like it was too much to handle. I just had to watch out for Eric's slightly obscure line he was driving. I think he must have been drinking. :p Just mess'n with ya.

Driveline
I've included a pic of the track drawn in AutoCAD. I suppose it depends on how you draw the drive-line. I can get it to vary anyplace from 112 to 123 depending on how I draw the lines. I settled in in the middle at 117.5. I think last night I had said 118 or 119, but that's what was in my head. (and what a scary place to be some days)

Points,
As discussed w/the drivers that were there, we'll do the 1st 2 weeks (this week and next week) as sort of a warm-up, then do a 6-week points thing. If anybody has any thoughts on that, I'm open to suggestions.

Results,
The results from the races will be posted within 24 hours of the race, and normally right after. Feel free to log into our website at www.michianarc.com (http://www.michianarc.com).

Hmm would that be referring to me??? LOL I got my GTB and I am gonna put it in and it will be ready for Wednesday. I am not ditching the 6 cell stock program....gonna get a motor that will not drop a cyclinder and some juice in the tank that will rock!! Won't be the same car....but should be descent!!!

I would like to see an IFMAR style start with the starting grid in front of the drivers......and then a heads up start in the main. Seems better to start back from the line and the IFMAR start if there is a pile up in the turn.....doesn't hurt you beacasue your car hasn't crossed the line yet.....gather it up cross the line and your own clock starts...what does the rest of the group think??? It really isn't a big deal, but I will go with whatever the other wanna do....

Also would it be possible with the 4300 BL class instead of 4 mins can we run 5 mins??? As most of us including me will be running the BRL series those races are 5 mins long I personally would like to run under the same rules as BRL to get familiar with them.....but I will leave it up to the resto f the group and go with what they want too.....

These are just suggestions......I had a blast Wednesday...I think we have a group of guys who love racing for what it is FUN......and the season and OVal will get better as the season goes on......Thanks for letting us play guys......

I'd personally like to do some four-cell stock if anyone's interested. I like running up in New England, and brushless doesn't exist up there.

Where do you live? Go run four cell stock in New England. Brushless is taking over in the midwest and even the small group we had wednesday nite shows it. The 3 in 6 cell stock are all making the switch to brushless.

I'll run either or, (brushless or 4-cell stock.) It's the reason I purchased the ESC I did so I can be flexible.

So, Derek... I will assume you were just kidding with your comments and that I don't see your sense of humor. Now, if you are serious, then I will want to discuss with you my thoughts on your comments, preferrably in person.... they'd be rather negative....

I would also hope that anyone NOT running brushless would also assume you're kidding, and that they wouldn't be offended by your post. It would be a shame if someone chose to not visit the Michiana track, for fear they're not welcome... I'd like to assume that anyone is welcome at the Michiana track- please correct me if I'm wrong...

Sorry Kris... Tried to sound as diplomatic as I possibly could (it's tough for me, sometimes...) I'm sure he was just joking...
However, if that's a feeling he, or any other racer has, it really does no good for the sport at all. I want to see the hobby grow, whether we're racing 4300 pan cars or grasshoppers.....

ETOWNE,
Can you tell me the nights they race oval at Michiana, is it just Wednesday? And, also can you run a standard wing or do they have a no wing rule, and what is the runline in feet on the track? Their web site is very confusing and hard to navigate. And yes I would to run with you with 4300 and open speedo, I am currently runing at Stateline on Friday nights, but will not be there this coming Friday the 20th (mothers Birthday 84) but will be every week after that. I have a lrp speedo, and I didn't buy it because I thought it would be a competitive advantage, I got it because of its size and I like the color blue. Set up will always win the race!! Right! Ok Todd, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that stock wasn't welcomed here. I'm just saying that everyone that was there on Wednesday ran brushless and the 3 running 6 cell stock are looking to switch to brushless. We had months of discussion about what classes to run here and at the other tracks in the area. Most of the guys want a brushless class. Michiana runs it first race and everyone is having fun running brushless or still wanting to run brushless. If enough guys show up wanting to run 4 cell stock then go ahead and run with them. I just hate to see the 7 or more guys that might show up this week have to split up just so one guy can run stock. I was series when I said to go to New England and run stock. That might be the last places you'll find it in a couple of months. But why complain about a class at a track when everyone is running that class and you have the equipment to run with them? Is it because you were 3 laps off of me? If so, ask me for help. I tried giving you tips but I never hear any questions on how to make you faster. I'll be there this wednesday to race and give anyone help that asks. I'll also have a box of Kotex and Tampax for those who need them. ETOWNE, don't forget my Kleenex.

I'll continue this discussion with you at the track, either indoors or out- you choose. You know as well as I that brushed motor racing isn't going to die anytime soon. Perhaps with the "fast guys" around this region, but not as a whole. It'll still be run at the Birds, the Nats, and the like... I will continue to run brushless, and will continue to improve- mark my words. I only remember you mentioning a gear ratio you were running- I learned more walking over and looking at your car. Don't hurt yourself patting yourself on the back for offering to help. Thank you, though for the gearing suggestion, as I was way-low to start off with. When I consider running a new car, a new motor, and learning the differences between your motor & speed control and mine, I'm fine with being three laps off.

Don't count on it happening much in the future...

Usually I feel like I'm the one with controversy, good to see it's somebody else. :-) I think what we have here is a slight mis understanding. Anybody/any class is welcome to race at MRCR. Myself, as I mentioned eariler purchased a esc that can do both brushed and brushless so I can go with whatever class seems to be more popular, and I can be flexible if/when I go race someplace else.

As for the 3 guys that ran 6-cell brushless. Yes, I know 2 of the 3 are going to get brushless system (Kristi already has it I believe, if not, let me know as i'm getting ready to put in an order for a couple 4300's, and I'll add another one if necessary - shamless plug) However there is another guy at our track that doesn't plan on switching to any 4-cell class, weather brushed, or brushless, so I hope the 6-cell stock class can survive as well as the 4300 class.

Hi Radio...

Can you give me a little more input on what's hard to navigate about it? Nobody has ever mentioned that it was hard to navigate, so if something needs to be moved, or information posted someplace, we would like it to be as easy as possible.

As far as rules for oval. the brushled classes we're following roar rules, brushless classes were following brl rules.

WOW... um do I need to bring these this week?? http://www.greatbigstuff.com/box.html

Lets kiss and make up now fellas. We can't afford to lose people because of mis-understandings!! Lets all play fair and have fun... That is the point right.. Pick a class that you want to race.. The whole point is to have fun.

Right now it seems there are 2 classes running and that is 4300 bruchless and 6cell stock.

But the way, I'm looking at running 4cell/6cell stock brushed... If that even matters....

Ding Ding.......

ToddFalkowski
10-16-2006, 02:05 PM
It absolutely matters... Pat wants to stay with six-cell stock... Todd Forsythe wants to run brushless and/or four-cell... You have guys on the MRCR forums wanting four and or six cell...there's a few classes I'd like to run, maybe even bust out the old six-cell stuff... I don't mind running a class I normally don't to make a show... And, I'm trying to work on the wife to let my son race, too... He's not ready for a brushless... yet... so he's a four-cell guy. So, in my opinion, yeah, it matters a great deal for what you, and everyone else wants to run.

Nice boxing gloves!

Hey guys, sorry for chimming in so late, it was news to me that an official thread was started for our track. Few thoughts from me. I am one of the guys that ran 6 cell stock. As I talked to a few of the other guys I think they were under the impression that I was dropping that class and going to brushless, only partially true. I am very interested in a 4 cell class as right now I have a car setup for 4 cell stock. I was planning on running that the last wednesday race but there was no one else there to run it. So that is why i'm looking to get a brushed/brushless speedo so no matter what shows up all i may have to do is swap motors... On that note, I do not plan on dropping 6 cell stock. It is where I started at in oval racing and I still love it. Since I have two chassis it's easy for me to run both classes, we just got to get the numbers back up and consistent in ALL the classes. Which for anyone else who doesn't already know, this is what we offer for oval classes:

4 cell stock
6 cell stock
4 cell 4300

those are the classes we are trying to promote at the moment but any other class is welcome as long as there are at least 4 cars there on any given night to support it.

Also, on the note of bringing up numbers and promoting.....if there are any personal issuses, please refrain from them getting out of hand. If they start to, please take it elsewhere than for everyone to see. Todd and Derek, you are both very accomplished races and good guys to hang with, I would hate to see either of you leave because of personal differences that could otherwise be worked out. Racing is in the name of fun and that's what we all should be having to deal with, FUN.

I am still setup to run either 6 cell stock and 4 cell brushed something, otherwise I'll just be there to help out and watch the fun as I am still brushless-less....

See ya wednesday.

Shawn
