i havent raced in an actual piont race before but i have run on a track for a while, i was wondering if i had to buy a transponder or if youguys supplied one.

they supply house transponders. you just install the right number right before your race. then right after you put it back in the tray.

Are there any plans for the timing/scoring system at the track to support personal transponders in the future?

Wow, that would be a really great layout for an onroad track if it didn't have all those jumps... and dirt. Haha! :-D

Seriously, tho - that looks like a super fun layout. Makes me want to get an offroad vehicle!

Come on out and race with us!!! The Barn is much warmer than it used to be. There have been revisions with the heating system.
I will try to save a copy of the layout for the night race!!!

I'll probably drop by to check out the racing, but I don't own any more off-road vehicles so no racing for me. :)

what kind of racing surface is it? what are some good tires to start out with? Will the track groove up? any help would be appreciated.

DJ1978
11-09-2006, 08:31 AM
The track is smooth and sometimes dusty. Holeshots or Kingpins work the best.
Some areas will groove up a little.
Hope to see you there!!

Johnny and I had a great time racing with all the racers who supported the first race at the “BARN” before the largest electric offroad series in Michigan kicks off Nov.18th. Congrats to Dan for achieving 200 race entries on opening day before the series starts. Sure it was a long day but the loyal Washtenaw racers who keep coming back to race there must have found the magic ingredients that makes them return to this series every year. We will be back as our schedule allows.

Tires – for the buggy classes, I will say the results speak loud that the Panther Puma soft compound for the rears, work great. For the front, due to the levels of loose dust and that Panther does not have a similar tire; the Losi 7202 red’s worked. If the track grooves up or at least is more dust free, then the bobcats for 2wd or 4wd will be dialed.

On truck – the Panther Komodo Dragon worked great on the track, med/soft compound for the front and soft for the rear. We used the stock inserts but I do think we should have cut them down a little because the tires did seem to be too stiff.

so what time did ya get out og there last nite teapot daddy. and did teapot think the fronts were a little edgy and possibly would have liked ribs better on truck that is

JLOG
11-20-2006, 07:27 AM
We pulled away at about 1:30 am Sunday. We did not try any ribs and Teapot's only complaint was the foams were to hard.

chris arnold
11-20-2006, 11:14 AM
well i knew that about the foams. i guess we are working on white foams for the truck. same as the 2wd foams.

With 200 entries at Washtenaw RC Raceway I would say we are off to a great start!!
That is a record high attendance!!!
Thanks to all who came and raced and to all who helped with track Maintenance and the Transponders.
I think we made great time.... but there are things we can do to improve.
Off the track, turn in your transponder and back out to marshall continues to be a factor that slows the race day considerably.
I hope all the racers will take advantage of the tables near the timing system to drop off their vehicles and radios and get back out to marshall quickly.
See you December 2nd for the 1st point race of the season.

Congrats Dan on the number of entries. In at 6 or 7 in the morning, out at 1 in the morning the following day......way too long of a day for this old fart...........are you going to start thinking about only running 2 quals and a main?

DJ1978
11-28-2006, 09:31 AM
Randy,
We will always run 3 and a main, with what I have to charge for entry fees to rent the building, I don't feel it would be right to only run 2 and a main.
The new saying is Washtenaw is what it is . A LONG day of great racing. Michigans Biggest and best indoor dirt.
I think you could handle it...
Hope to see you there. At least stop by for a visit.
doors open at 8am racing starts about 10:30.
With 24 heats and 4 rounds (96 heats total) we finished at about 1:15 am.
Racers not getting out to marshall continues to be the biggest thing that slows the race day down.
Thanks
Dan

I have a few questions about the long day.

- Is the track open for practice on Friday (night)?
- Can someone register in advance so they don't have to be there when sign-ups close?

The reason for asking is because for out-of-towner's it might be easier get a set-up working on Friday, sleep in Saturday, maybe miss the 1st round, and then drive home after racing. I like the idea of driving up from Indy to compete against a large number of racers, but wanted to limit how many nights I'd have to spend at a hotel.

Thanks.

DJ1978

The track is only open on Race days. Other than track repair day that is the Monday preceeding the race day at 5 pm.

There is no preregistration. I am trying to keep it simple. Too complicated with the chance of bad weather to take names ahead of time and not have them show.

We can try to make arrangements for your camp at the fairgrounds if you had a camper and were coming in from a long distance.
You would have to let me know in advance.
Hope you can make it up sometime.
Thanks
Dan

indy, from my experience at the barn, just get some sleep friday, get there right when open. you willl have plenty of time to run some packs, no real setup secrets here, track is usually on the slippery side. plus you will have plenty of time between qualifiers to change your set-up if needed, just run more than one class though!! its a friendly bunch of racers , and im sure you would have a great time. just plan on sleeping most of sunday to compensate the nearly 24 race day!!!!
later, terry

SEE YA THERE!!!!!!!
