I bought all the new shiney Holiday cars, but unfortunately a few had poor paint jobs or had dust under the chromy top color or had chips in the chromy color top paint, and I won't display an imperfect car. I see that under the top color the car is all chrome. Is there a way to get the top color off of the car but leaves the chrome underneath intact. A sturdy fingernail works only fair to remove the thin top paint, but there may be a more efficient way.
Will that aircraft stripper stuff remove the chrome too?

I have stripped the chromed cars before . You must dissassemble them completely first . I soaked mine in lacquer thinner & the color came off leaving a nice chrome finish ... You lose all the printed trim detail though ... Aircraft stripper would probably not harm the chrome , as it is plated on metal , not plated plastic .

Looks good. I'm thinking that some of those transparent candy color sprays would look nice on top of the chrome. I haven't gotten that far yet with the holiday cars I'm working with.
