Nice track, good people, and an excelent host in Walt. I've only been there once, but had a really great time. The competition is good too. They will have a lot of people there if the weather is half way decent. I would expect 20 sportsman or more.

Can someone please tell me a little bit about the size of the track at Classic Hobbies and do they run Sprint Cars. I have recently purchased a WCM and only got to run it once over in Indiana and woud like to run it again before winter. Are there any indoor places to race these? Such as the State Fairgrounds quarter Midget and go kart track.
Thanks

Stuch,

At one time (2002) Classic did race Sprints, but as Chris said, they no longer do. Classic is on the small side, but it's very fast and racey. Fun. It will make a good driver out of you!

If you would like to try sprint racing on dirt / clay look me up.

I would be very interested incoming to Naugle to race if you have any races left this year. It is interesting that my family lives near Pittsburgh in Kittaning. What tires would I need and does anyone sell them in your area?
Thanks

DAAAAAAAAANNNNNGGGGG! Openely admitting that you boys need Chris to run strong is bad!!!!!! You been running with RickyBobby too long. LOL. Remember, big green finished second in the points to chris last season. Missed the title by five points, but had a blast with all you boys. Ultrarace, how about showing alittle class. I remember the race. you were third. and you werent' as fast that day as in the past. with a handful of
laps to go , 1st and 2nd took themselves out racing for the win.
they went to the back for the restart. you had to keep it in front for several laps to the end. So just admit it was one your lucky days.
we all have them. no matter how good your car is, it takes little luck
now and then. I know i've won my share of races that way.
passing CLEAN on that track takes talent.

WHERE'S THE CLASSIC POSSE? C'MON BOYS LETS KEEP IT ALIVE!!!
you know what I think? I think that we probably have one of the biggest dedicted weekly crowds probably in the country at classic, which means that theres so much more oppertunity to run with more people in traffic, more people spread out in a variety of driving styles and skill levels, with some new people getting into it still yet to come. and even the supposed crew from ravenna if that gets off the ground, cause lets remember theres not even a track yet, but it has race dates? so if every one could get together, I'll guarantee the toughest racin' without people that can travel around the country year after year to all the big races, and have that extra experience. all I know is these quarter scle tracks don't pop up everywhere and it sucks runnin on a flat crappy parking lot.

ryan hit the nail on the head. the first race is april 13/14 at carolina speedway, easly S.C., for which i have not raced so only general knowledge i,m going there with, a couple guys went there last year so i'll ask them for a setup, but july 27/28 is clover south carolina, that we did race last year, and allthough i should have done better, ryan and a couple people did better then me out of our group, i just have a broad grasp on things so thats why people usually ask me what to do, i run wcm so anything you want to know just ask. and allthough it seems like all we do is bicker at each other of who's the better racer means nothing, because all of us can get together and b.s. on quarter scales all day long when you get us around each other and the arguing just keeps it real, what the hell would racing be if everyone was so nice to each other and just pull over for them eveytime they get by you. no. the rivalry keeps it interesting in the off season, i just hate seeing all this hype on a new track when we have been racing on a quality track all this time upkept by someone thats been in the business a long time, theres no quirkyness of all the things that will have to be sorted out at a new facility. just because we dont have a hot pit which does not matter since there are no green flag pit stops and the strong backing of a voice in qsac that happens to make it a personal agenda for this track not to succeed or even be mentioned in qsac is B.S. plus the years of membership and experience that walt has just flat out pisses me off. i'd have no problem of running the new track if it was on an off day, but i havent seen anyone representing the new track race at classic to gat to know the crowd or any of that. plus walt has never misled me when i was a newby or ever had me buy anything i didn't need. so if you want to go run with some cheaters go ahead, p.s. i've been torn down for tech, have you?

jbell31
03-01-2007, 09:49 PM
smallblock 388,

I'm not sure if I'm reading your last post correct, so forgive me if I'm wrong. I think you just called a bunch of people in Ravenna cheaters or the people that will be racing there cheaters.

I have to tell ya, I went to Walt's place last year and had an absolute blast!!!. People were fun to race with, the track is fun, Walt is a great host. Then a few folks came up to our track in Lansing. They too had a blast, people were fun to race with, and they told me so. They want to come back this year too. I plan on going to Walts again this year as well.

Lets lighten up on the name calling OK. I've talked with Freddie and some of the folks that will be racing there. They all seem real nice and want to have a good time. I know Freddie runs a class shop, because I've talked to many people that race there indoors. I for one would like to see some cooperation between the two tracks.

I don't know the politics behind the QSAC santion and Walts track, maybe it can be resolved. I have the ear of the QSAC folks and I will ask a few questions. I do know there is a process to go through.

I'm sure i don't know the whole story and why you seem to have an issue with the new track. All I can say is you are either part of the solution, or you are part of the problem.

There are a lot of racers that go to classic for sure, that is why i would hope see both run on different days. I'd love to come down there and race two days, one at one track and one at the other. They could hold a mini series or two and get a huge crowd at bothh tracks I'm sure. QSAC or not, I'm still racing where there's a track and I have fun.

Oh and I hope I didn't loose the point I was trying to make. If you have to cheat, why race at all? If that is what you need to do, (not you spacificly) to have fun, have at it. When you get beat by someone that don't cheat, how does that feel? And last, It's a hobby. Have fun with it, and help make it grow. The more people in the sport, the better the compitition, the better the fun factor, and the better the challenge.

Have fun boys, that's why we're here.

I missed that saturday last season when you came down jbell, I heard that it was a good day though, let us know when you will be down this year, i'll make sure to be there, good to make more 1/4 scale freinds!!! I know that our track used to be in the track links section of qsac, but now it is not. It would be nice to have our "home track" represented there. It is true that there is no hot pit at classic, but it is a fantastic place to hone your skills as due to the tight racing there. Much fun regardless of notariety, i'll be there. GOGREEN33

thats all im saying also, but the forces that be are persistant to make it a same day event as to take walts crowd away, and if you read my earlier posts i also agreed that if you could get the two groups together it would be awesome. but it will take different days to make it happen. but all i'm saying is that they want to make the sport huge, well i'm all for it, but it takes more than a new track to do so. i dont want to step on toes but theres stronger push of a track thats not even built than one that exists to have qsac sanctioning. and thats why i say that the rivalry keeps it real. the cheating part applies to the past ethic of the people planning to race it, not all mind you. iconsider myself as bias as i dont have connections or relations to either track owner, but if i was opening a new track for that much investment i think i would have scouted it out a little bit or a least participate in a couple races to see what its all about. crown royal baby

smallblock 388

and to add, people know about walts although not one thing is mentioned about his track and the class act heeee is anywhere on qsacs page

again, We are not scared of the green car or that purple thing. I will have the car to beat this year.....

It is to bad both tracks plan to run the same day. I think Freddies will need to be on a saturday because of being located in a neighborhood. 2 days would be better for everyone i agree. I plan to run at both and i hope it doesnt offend either track owner.

I think going down to Easly to run in April would be a blast. We need to get some people together for a caravan down there.
