Hello everyone, I recently dug an old car out of storage and cleaned it up for my young son. This car was mine about 20 years ago. After all was said and done, I plugged in the battery and the motor just runs without the remote. I can engage the remote to turn but the motor never stops or slows down, any ideas what I should do?
I believe this is a grasshopper circa 1987.
Thanks, sonny

Thanks for your reply. Even with the radio off, as soon as I plug the battery into the car, the wheels just start spinng. What is the esc?

I would guess that you have a MSC or mechanical speed control. They normally sit on top of the chassis and have a wiper arm that attaches to a servo. With no radio on the wiper arm may be in a position to run the motor. You should be able to turn the wiper arm by hand to turn off the motor.

Thanks again for all of your help and advice. I took this thing apart and found that channel 2 on the receiver was not working. I reversed inputs for steering and engine control, the engine worked fine when I changed them and then the steering did not work. I ordered a new 2 channel receiver last nigh.
