Ive been using the tc3 shock and never had any problems with it and its 4x cheaper than the hpi shock. Is there a common problem with it. I used to have an hpi shock but I didn't know much about it and it leaked.

I really like the associated threaded shock body (Touring car version) mated with the new VCS2 cap, Have yet to find anything better for the price

all ya'll are pimps, especially you, jo-jo.
i got an HPI with a car i got, and i ddint like the feel it had compared to the Associated threaded tc3 shock i've used in the past....
plus, i know the associated shock and can get it to be smooth.... go with what you can afford..... and what is easiest for you to get parts for.

I never liked the HPI shock, I kept trying it because everone said it was better, It never performed near an associated Shock,

I say stick with Associated Shock

HPI shocks are overrated. Stick with the AE shocks. Some guys are using bladders in the shocks this makes it real easy. HPI aren't smoother or easier IMO.

For my Touring Cars I have built HPI, Associated (with Yokomo caps same idea as the new V2 cap) and Tamiya TRF shocks. If built carefully and properly all will work equally well and smoothly. Go with what you like.

I use the HPI and the associated and like them both. The Assc.needs rebuilding every couple of weeks because of air buildup, the HPI stays smooth A LOT longer, I've run them for months with no change in damping or feel. CRC had the self bleeding cap for some time now, it always weeped fluid hopefully the RIP is better. Just my 2 cents.

It doesn't look like anything special. A lot of guys like the HPI spring selection because they have more choices. The Associated, with the bladder and a vent hole in the cap, can't go wrong.
