They're aware of us then?
The in orbit shots look good!

LOL, that's seriously funny!
Arronax 09-11-2006, 01:59 PM TV Guide says the upgraded show starts Saturday, September 16 but I can't find it listed anywhere locally or on cable channels!

Thats just wrong on so many levels.
TV Guide says the upgraded show starts Saturday, September 16 but I can't find it listed anywhere locally or on cable channels!
Jim
Well I had to do a bit of searching to find it, one channel out of Phoenix is airing it at 9 p.m., I also read in other posts people were finding it at midnight and in the early morning.
Arronax 09-11-2006, 02:09 PM Never mind, I found it on a secondary local channel playing at 2:30 pm in the afternoon. That'll keep the viewers from switching from football or going to the mall.
Thank god for DVD-Rs and VCRs.
Jim
dgtrekker 09-11-2006, 07:59 PM I'm kinda suprised there aren't more independents picking it up. I see that TV Land is going to start showing the originals in November.
veedubb67 09-11-2006, 10:24 PM Here's my favorite.

We sing it every year on our roadtrip to WF!!!
ClubTepes 09-11-2006, 11:19 PM Well, It looks like they're matching the shots EXACTLY.
Case in point a sub-light Romulan BOP going so fast that the stars still pass by.
This might quell the purists (just a little).
I for one was hoping for corrected orbits and non-off axis flight paths.
Well, maybe for the HD Bubble chips.
I liked the trailer music.
Prince of Styrene II 09-12-2006, 05:03 PM Does anyone know where you can search for the channels it's on? I'm having trouble finding it out here in Mass.

I found mine through TV Guide's website and I verified it with a look at the local stations websites.
Griffworks 09-12-2006, 08:30 PM Finally got to see this trailer this afternoon. Looks great! I can't wait to see this and I'm no longer trepiditious about the opening theme music.

I don't know how you found it, but I'm having a heck of a time - couldn't find it on the TV Guide site. The big P must not want us to watch it very badly 'cuz I haven't heard a word of it beyond what's been posted here.

Theres a section where you type in your zip code and it should give you local channels or cable providers, if you have satalite I'm not sure where your at with that info.
veedubb67 09-12-2006, 11:10 PM There's an option for Satellite TV (DirectTV, DishNetwork) with local channels. I found it showing on UPN Saturday night at 11 PM.
Prince of Styrene II 09-13-2006, 01:39 AM I don't know how you found it, but I'm having a heck of a time - couldn't find it on the TV Guide site.
There's a link that says "Edit Location". Click on it & fill in your zip. For central Mass, Charter Communications, it's airing at 2:35am on Sunday the 17th!! :freak:
I checked next week's listing & it says that "Devil in the Dark" is next.
wlemonds 09-13-2006, 08:46 AM Does this help?
http://trekmovie.com/tos-in-hd/hdtv-star-trek-tos-channel-list
John P 09-13-2006, 01:09 PM Yup!
Looks like this week's listings put it at 3:30 AM Monday morning, then next week at 3:00 AM. Only one show a week.
aurora fan 09-13-2006, 01:09 PM Sunday at 3 am in dallas! What a freakin gyp!
heiki 09-13-2006, 10:38 PM I am interested in what aircraft they will use for "Tomorrow is Yesterday".
Prince of Styrene II 09-13-2006, 11:17 PM The same one, I'm sure. There's no need to change it, let alone change it from the model to GCI.
John P 09-14-2006, 07:36 AM The aircraft wasn't a model, for cryin out loud. It was stock footage of a real F-104,

And, not in HD either.

Point taken. But like I said, no need to change it to a Raptor or somethin'! :p
spe130 09-14-2006, 11:37 AM And, not in HD either.
No one is showing it in HD yet. Okuda's Q&A said that almost no stations have the digital storage capacity to take syndicated HD feeds. As that problem is fixed, they seem to intend to start HD broadcasts.
Richard Compton 09-15-2006, 04:05 AM Would also give someone a couple reasons to tune in. Now for the new effects, and later for the HD.
Hey, I wonder if they're going to colorize the stock footage from the Guardian.

John P 09-15-2006, 07:42 AM ^Or change it to more modern stock footage - like from Troy, Alexander, Kingdom of Heaven, the Untouchables, Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor.
Lou Dalmaso 09-15-2006, 07:51 AM ^^^or add events that happened after '66 ... berlin wall, shuttle launch (Enterprise rollout), 9/11, First Contact, Archer's Enterprise ?
I can't wait!
Old_McDonald 09-15-2006, 09:58 AM Can't wait to see what they doo with the following episodes
1) the doomsday machine
2) Enterprise invades a giant microbe
3) balance of terror
Lou Dalmaso 09-15-2006, 10:27 AM Heck,
I want to see what they do with Abe Lincoln and the giant Apollo Hand
Prince of Styrene II 09-15-2006, 11:34 AM Heck,
I want to see what they do with ...the giant Apollo Hand
You'll now be able to see wrinkles & liver spots!
it'll be one of those CGI hands where the fingers look too long .

Zorro 09-16-2006, 08:34 AM Okuda's Q&A said that almost no stations have the digital storage capacity to take syndicated HD feeds.
That makes little to no sense.
Richard Compton 09-16-2006, 09:25 AM Someone said (was it here?) that most HD stations can only play LIVE HD shows because they can't receive and store the content to play for later on. Star Trek is being syndicated to all different hours and days of the week, so it's not like it will be coming down from the satellite at exactly the right timeslot for every station. I also read that some stations have said that it's untrue and they can timeshift the content. CBS might be waiting until most stations have this capability, or they may just want to get a couple runs out of this and will start with the standard definition. But that's just speculation.
Zorro 09-16-2006, 09:44 AM It may be true that many of these stations are not "HD Ready" - i.e. - they are not capable of broadcasting in HD at all. But any station that is broadcasting in HD should not only have sufficient digital servers to record whatever they choose but also at least a couple of HD VTRs for recording and playback.
Richard Compton 09-16-2006, 09:53 AM Should or do?
Zorro 09-16-2006, 11:14 AM Should or do?
Should. I suppose there are stations out there broadcasting in HD purely as a "live" conduit to the source feed. I wouldn't think there are many.
Trek Ace 09-16-2006, 11:37 AM Totally untrue.
There are many, many stations that are fully capable of rebroadcasting HD from either servers or tape. That capacity for storing syndicated HD material is not as elusive as CBS would like us to believe.
spe130 09-16-2006, 01:09 PM This is from the startrek.com Q&A:
Will the episodes be broadcast in 1080i 4:3 HD and 5.1?
At the current time, the majority of affiliate stations cannot handle HD transmission unless they are live events (sports, news, etc.). As stations develop their capacity to air things in HD, CBS/Paramount TV will certainly be working with them towards that goal.
Zorro 09-16-2006, 06:10 PM At the current time, the majority of affiliate stations cannot handle HD transmission unless they are live events (sports, news, etc.).
Still don't make much sense.
spe130 09-16-2006, 08:54 PM *shrug* Can't help ya there.
Prince of Styrene II 09-17-2006, 01:46 AM My work has HD broadcasts, mostly of the ball games. I'll have to ask them on Monday if they have any kind of storage capacity.
