While mowing this weekend I noticed the engine smoking some. It seemed to smoke more when I would engage the blades or when cutting thicker grass.
I also noticed what appeared to be an oil/gas mixture leaking from the fuel pump. Anybody got any ideas what may be wrong?
Been reading some, great site. Thanks!

The usual cause of fuel in the oil is the fuel pump diaphragm starting to leak. Usually replacing or repairing the pump fixes the problem (and of course changing the oil).

I'm sure this would be the reason it's smoking as there is fuel mixed in the oil. I guess this would also lead to the engine running erratically and it seemingly not having much power.

Gaa... old habit. I used to work on cars  Engine smoked from it dripping on exhaust.
Check your air filter to make sure it is not saturated with oil.
If it's:
Black smoke when the engine is under load, you need to adjust the high speed mixture screw.
Blue smoke indicates excessive oil consumption under load. This is normal if the engine is overfilled on oil or has a lot of hours on it (it's tired) and would require a rebuild
White smoke is caused by burning oil.Your rings on the pistion are wearing out.
When you engage the mower blades it puts more stress on the engine
