View Full Version : B&S 287707 need electrical help.

need help trying to figure out what wires are what on the B&S 287707.
there are two coming out from under the fly wheel the one is red and one black(power and ground)? iknow where the red one goes but cant figure out where the other one goes . i know where the ground on the coil goes.then on the carb silonoidi got the ground but i dont know how to energize the power , off the switch some where if so what spot can i use. or can i wire it direct on a toggle switch and turn it off and on as needed, or does it run the float too. any help will be appreciated thanks. :confused: email adancer9@hotmail.com

both these wires are power 3amp dc for battery charge and 14 volts ac for lights the ground for the coil should be a thin black wire from the coil down to the thottle control to the stop switch from the stop switch another wire goes to the key switch usually to the M terminal all the briggs manuals are available here on the site and this isyour best bet to better understand your engine good luck

what does the stop switch look like and im guessing i need another ignition switch to hook up carb solinoid? can i do away with the ac wire if i dont need any lights?

what type of equipment are you dealin with this might clear some of the details of switching engines and as i said trace old wires using a meter or continuity light and by turning the switch see what is connected in run stop and start positions the brigss manuals are here on site to download they show charging systems ignition and key switch diagrams good luck

its a craftsman mower, use to have a techumse motor on it, i dont need to put the lights back on. the old motor didnt have a solonoid on the carb.
