Cool Cincinnati on Saturday night and New Castle on Sunday sounds like a good plan for me. I’m game for a race or just a test & tune. Does not matter to me.

Brad Boling

As of right now, the plans are to open the doors at 8:00 a.m. I am not sure if they are going to race that Sunday.

My take on it is if your gonna race do it later in the day. So that the people that want to just tune can tune and those that want to race can also.

Brad any official word yet on opening time for test and tune? I need an idea as I have some prior plans that will require me to be home later in the day Sun.

Brad Boling
09-08-2006, 08:27 PM
Doors will open at 8 a.m. As far as the racing goes, that will depend on how many people will want to do so. If there is racing, it will be at no extra charge. $5.00 for the whole day.

I want to thank Burke and the crew for letting us come and test and tune this past sunday.

Track was in good shape
for not being raced on in some months.

Thanks Butch for letting us run a couple of heats and a main.

the brushless class is looking for good ( 4300) and should be one of the biggest classes this year.

as for me the 4 cell stock class i ran was my last
so going out with a win and switching to brushless class from here on out.

see everyone later

Any 4 cell stock racers for this up and coming sat.? We have 3 racers from the Fort Wayne area that would be interested in a great day of racing at New Castle? One of the racers is the "Reel Deel". He has been so kind as to offer a 4 cell stock driving clinic. The clinic is 3 heats and main and it is free (after your paid entry fee)!! LOL!!
Let me know.

bob or Brian What's a good starting point for gearing for TC at the Moose??

I've been running a 93 spur to a 39 pinion with a CO27 or P2K2 motor using IB3800 batteries, Trinity XXX brushes, new BSR tires and an HPI 200mm Dodge Ram body. I've been turning consistant laps in the 4.3s or 4.2s when I hit my line. That has been good enough for a 56 lap run in qualifying. Need to pick up the pace and lay down some 4.1s if I want to get 57 laps. The P2K2 was a tick slower than the CO27, but both performed well. Bob & Greg Cordell have turned 4.1s and 57laps in their touring cars, but it is going to be a bit harder to get those laps with the Nastruck Bodies.

I'm running an oval-chassis for my TC3, so the car gets through the corners well. I'm also running ceramic bearings, so the drive train is very free. If you are running a stock chassis TC3 without a free drive train, you may want to drop a tooth or 2 on the pinion to keep the motor from over-heating.

The biggest performance gain I've gotten is the LTO chassis (http://www.xtremercracing.com/TC3_OVAL.cfm). I won't recommend spending the money I did (to beat the Cordell boys :)), but investing in a battery tray for a TC3 is worth it. Dave Whitesel/Leading Edge makes a battery tray that can be mounted on a TC3/TC4 for oval racing (http://www.leadingedgerccars.com/TC_3.html). The drivers that have used this tray on their stock TC3's or other touring cars have been very happy with the results.

If you want some additional info, check out the touring oval thread here on Hobbytalk (http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=128161)

11-03-2006, 01:31 PM
so you guys are running nastruck bodies instead of sedan bodies???

IndyRC_Racer
11-03-2006, 01:54 PM
Here are the "rules" that we have been running in touring car so far this year.

6-cell batteries up to and including 4200mah (most have been using 3800s or less)
27-turn stock motors - if you wanted to try a 13.5 brushless I wouldn't complain.
Nastruck bodies with touring car wing or spoiler (Okay to run a sedan body or oval body if you don't have a truck body)
No roof height - okay to slam the body (if you can :))
Foam tires
Heats are 4 minutes with a 4 minute main.
Standard ride height for New Castle

We are very open to racer suggestions in this class. However, we wanted to try truck bodies as a way to keep the oval feeling and to set us apart from touring bodies and Nascar bodies. We had 7 TCs last week. Bob & Greg Cordell along with myself qualified at 56 laps. The other guys were a few laps off the pace, but all were making huge improvements in their cars & times. I will be there Saturday along with Bob Cordell.

Thanks, Brian Smith.

gee!! if the tc3 keeps growing like this . ill have to get my tc3 out of retirement.

IndyRC_Racer
11-05-2006, 12:02 PM
Well, the magic finally wore off of my new TC3 oval conversion. I TQ'ed at 56 laps, but Bob Cordell out powered me in the main thanks to my 43 pinion or was it the 4200 batteries vs. my 3800's. Either way it was fun. I think I might have to break down and buy a brushless setup so I can try to beat Bob in 2 classes.
