I think it would be cool to have a forum for those who collect quality diecast, ie: CMC, Exoto, GMP, Hwy 61. I realize not many collect them, but for those who do, it would be nice to talk to others about what we like.
On the sebject of quality, I recently picked up the 1970 Plymouth GTX by GMP. Unfortunately it didn't come with the attena. I emailed GMP customer service. They emailed back the next day to say a replacement was on the way. It's nice to see a company that cares for it's customers. I can think of one toy company that could benefit from better customer relations!

What scale are you talking about for high end diecast? I have 1/43 scale diecast cars that I paid $175 about 18 years ago. I think most refer to high end diecast cars in 1/24 scale and 1/18 scale. Sure GMP and the others that you mentioned are quality cars, but they have plastic parts on them, and they are made in China or some other cheap labor country. High end 1/43 scale cars don't have the detail that the 1/24 or 1/18 scale diecast cars have, but they don't have plastic parts on them, and most are made in England or Canada. The windshield and windows are soft plastic and the tires are rubber. Other than that, even the hood ornaments, etc. on the newer models are all diecast and not plastic.

I'd love to post pics in a high end diecast board to meet members who collect 1/43 scale diecast models.

Please don't forget the 1/43 scale high end diecast collectors.

Great idea for a high end diecast board in any scale!

Hey STUTZ, I think that is a great idea to include that scale. I have a buddy who collect 1/43. The majority are Onyx(?). Even though I don't collect them I can really appreciate the detail they have. I would love to see some pics of different types cars in that scale. Who knows I might start collecting them as well. As for CMC and other made in China...yes they are. The next car I'm getting is the CMC 1936 Auto Union Type C Hillclimber Bergrenner. The detail is absolutely amazing. If you go to their web site they show the wire wheels are hand laced! There is one at the hobby store where I go and looking closer at the car it even has wire mesh in the fuel neck to keep dirt out.
I thought it would be cool for people with the same interest to share their collection and knowledge.

It's "1/43 scale Ford Fairlane towing a speedboat"

I'll post some more pics.

Hey tcjlooker post pics of your 1/24 or 1/18 scale cars right here on this thread that you started, I'll do the same.

Anyone else want to join in with us?

Let's see if we can keep all the posts on this thread for awhile. I'll check this thread every day.

Show those GMP, Franklin Mint, Brooklin, Durham, Conquest, etc. guys!

I'd love to see your diecast cars!

Cool pics STUTZ,

How do I post pics in this post. I think I figured out how to post pics.

I picked this up today. It is a 1/18 CMC 1936 Auto-Union Type C. The wheels were hand laced. It comes wrapped in a "silk" cloth!

http://photos.hobbytalk.com/data/508/CMC_Union-Auto_Type_C.JPG

The seat is made of cloth. The rubber hold down clamps work. You even get a small pair of tweezers to unlatch them.
http://photos.hobbytalk.com/data/508/medium/CMC_close-up.JPG
IT has copper lines. The fuel neck is hollow and in it has wire mesh to keep the dirt out.

I also bought the 1/18 GMP Pork Chop camaro. Pic not the best, sorry
http://photos.hobbytalk.com/data/508/Pork_Chop_camaro.JPG

Here's some more pics. These are 1/12 scale GMP Corvettes. I'm bringing them to Mosport this weekend for the American LeMans race to get autographed

Here's a 1/43 scale 1956 Ford Fairlane made by Brooklin.

This is an older casting, and detail isn't that good. The only thing that I like about the Brooklins is that there aren't any plastic parts except for the windshield and the rubber tires.

I wish I had some GMP models in 1/24 and 1/18 scale.

How about 1:72 all metal (pewter ) castings of Studebakers? They are shown on the Shrock Bros site at www.shrockbrothers.com . Each Stude in exact scale costs at least $70. Only 20 are casted at a time and when they sell out, there may not be anymore for quite a while! These are basically hand assembled in Central PA and are extremely well detailed and may even surpass some larger models in quality and detail!
These to me are also "high end"!

Those are nice pics. Talking about pewter cars, I have some that were released by JL. They never came to Canada, so I picked some up while on a trip to the States.

Here is my 1967 Chapparral 2 Sport by AutoArt Millinium. I find AA to very light weight cars and am not impressed with most of their releases, but I do like their Millinium editions.

I'd love to do so- but I do not have digital camera access. This old dog never
learned how to do this! I didn't learn how to send emails until about 6 years ago. If you go to Shrocks website, all the cars in all their glory are shown- much better than I could ever do! Enjoy! I know I am with the models I

Nothing wrong with the little stuff Eddie. My favorites are Johnny Lightning and Greenlight in 1/64 scale. The majority of my collection is 1/64 scale diecast cars.

Post some pics of your 1/64 Kyosho diecast Eddie. What is the price for 1/64 scale Kyosho diecast cars?

Hey STUTZ, I see there is a forum for 1/43 scale which is good. We still need a forum our other quality cars.

Here's a few others I have.

This is a 1/12 scale by Action. It has a fibre glass body.

Keep posting pics of your cars tcjlooker. I enjoy looking at your pics!

With some luck, perhaps a Quality Forum will be started.

I have about 6 Franklin Mint cars in 1/24 scale, but I don't consider them to be a quality diecast car.

I don't have any quality 1/18 scale diecast cars (only ERTL & Burago).

tcjlooker
09-08-2006, 09:17 PM
I've been looking at the new release of ERTL and I can't say I'm liking what I see. They are getting into the hw category. I'm not getting anymore until the quality improves.

Here is my AutoArt Jaguar XJ13. Nice and heavy. I like cars that have some weight. I don't like it when you pick a car up and it feels like a pop can (empty).

GREAT idea tcjlooker!

Vote me in for a 1:18 scale forum!

I've been collecting 1:18 scale diecast for quite a while now and really enjoy their quality and detail. I display almost everything, and mainly collect GMP, Lane Exactdetail, Precision Minatures, and also various Ertl.
My interests are mainly in '32s-'34 Fords, Camaros, nasalga drag racing stuff, and anything that WREAKS of HORSEPOWER!

I heard mention of 1:43 scale. How about 1:24 scale too? I have quite a few representing these scales too.

I really like all the pics that have been posted, and look forward to seeing more all of you, and maybe even posting some pics of my own.
