I would like to formally introduce myself and my INDOOR offroad dirt track located in Lorain, Ohio. My name is Steve and I own and operate Bumps -n- Jumps. I was going to wait for the summer seasons to come closer to an end to write this, but I was asked and agreed to do it now because Medina is not racing this Saturday Labor day weekend (more on that later). Anyways, I have a pit area that has tables, chairs, electricity and a hobby shop. I will be opened 6 days a week so races can be and will be whenever we feel like it. YES!! My official races will not begin until Medina and Oberlin are finished with their season. Then, they may be on Sat or Sun or both--depends on people. Summer racing will be on Fridays next year. (Again, not to mess with Medina's and Oberlin's racedays. I'll probally be there) The track---I know -I know its a bit small :( . Well couple of things about that.. First, I already have a bigger building ready to be built. So, if you want a bigger indoor track I'm with you. I just ask you to support me now, and be a little inconvienenced for this first year, and i'll build you a Bigger one next year. Two, Yes, I do have the AMBrc lap counting system and lap times with the new track set up have been between the high 11's and low 13's (single trucks--no traffic). Please keep in mind that I have tried to make the most out of a small space and still provide you with the most action packed 12 seconds you could imagine and to complete a 10 min race you will need to run about 33 to 35 laps. So, you will jump at least 132 times--- ride all over my walls--and hairpin 33 times...What's not fun about that!!!! and that's the point for this first track. FUN in the WINTER baby!!!! Third, I believe because the track is small. If you run it all winter long--You will be a much better DRIVER next year, on the bigger tracks--Hmmmmm Sounds like you need to come decide for yourselves!!!
Last, We will run electric and nitro!!!!!

More info at bumps-n-jumps.com

Now back to what brought me here. Saturday Labor day weekend ---Medina is not racing so I was asked to hold a race--I said Ok.. We are looking for anyone interested in racing this Saturday and ask that you post your name and type of vehicle you want to race (nitro or electric or both) This way we can have an idea of the classes we can run. We will start around 2 pm and can run nitros till 11pm (noise) and electric till the birds start singing cause we are indoors with perfect lighting and a 65 inch HDTV

THank you and please come see me

Hey all,

I am pleased to hear what is going on with your track.

I have a few questions:

Are you planning on moving into a bigger building?

What days are you planning on holding races?

What is your turnout of stock truck and stock buggy?

I plan on heading there after the Indoor Champs. I can't wait...a track 20 minutes from my house. That will be a first for me.

Thanks
Jerry

First the turnout for stock trucks and buggies has been pretty good so far. I suspect it will get much better when the snow starts to fly...

Once it gets cold, races will PROBALLY be on Saturdays. Hopefully, I have a BIG surprise for everyone planning or dreaming to race offroad this winter in warm Northern Ohio.

As for moving to a bigger building--that is just a rumor right now!! I am looking, but the bigger the building-the more expensive they get. However because it is "just a RUMOR" doesn't mean that I may or may not be very close to inking a deal. Just can't answer that one for you right now. I do suggest you watch this thread and my website for the final end to these rumors.

No matter what --if you show up to the track you will have a good time.

Thanks Mr Jumps,

I am heading to do some on-roading after this weekend, but when the Champs are over with, I am heading back to the dirt.

Like I posted before, I am pumped that I will have a track 20 minutes from the house.

Thanks again. I'll keep a eye on this thread.

OK--HERE IT IS. The answer to the rumor.

I am ready to ink a deal for a bigger building (for YOU) . BEFORE I do this I must take this poll.

Before I ask you need some info. I know my track is small NOW. so, I will put this TRACK ONLY in a MINIMUM space of 90 foot by 70 foot, with walls (those that have been to the track knows how I like walls). Also, the pit area will support 80-to 100 people (Building is big)

the question is simple! and the number of responses will determine if this happens or not.

Do you plan or want to race offroad on this track this winter  ??

if you want this track in your area make sure people respond or it goes away!

thank you

Mr. Jumps

One word of caution about this....not many people read these forums. I know it looks like it my all th eposts on the reagan thread but it is really only a handful of people. I would get the word out to the local hobbyshops as well. That might give you a better cross section of the people that want to run.

Can you say where the building is??? Not that it won't be way closer than Columbus but it would be nice to know....if possible.

Good luck.

Chris

Winter racing indoor would be great. Not only for the winter months but also when others get rained out in the summer. Would there be any heat? I know that costs money to do but realy makes it easier on equipment, The cars and mine. LOL

It will be nice to add a 3rd track to the winter off-road racing. I agree with Chris, don't let this thread determine if it is a yes or no. You might be talking to 20 racers if that. But if 20 racers tell there friends what a great time they had, and they tell there friends, and so on, and so on........ I will drive anywhere that has a high caliber track with good competition. Ashtabula is small, but Ryan puts some excellent layouts in a small space and the competition is there, Columbus is a national caliber track with national caliber drivers, Planet in Indy just held the Modified Nationals, don't need to say much more.

If you build it they will come!!!!!!!!!

HEAT for the whole building --NO

drivers stand and pit area are my concern and will have heat. either radiant heaters or propane heaters (cost is issue)

ccm399
09-13-2006, 09:48 PM
The pits are the main thing that need some heat. Don't get me wrong...some heat by the driver's stand is a good thing but normally the ventilation will remove the heat faster than you can make it.
