my brigs had bad valves so i put new ones in it it was allways hard to start it spudders and then wont even hit a lick unless i wait an hour or so help help and is the has cap supposed to have a seal its a 5hp :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

has cap? Gas cap? the gas cap must vent, or it'll starve the engine for fuel.
horizontal? they are always hard to start to begin with...., but exactly how hard is it?

i did what u said to on another thred pull 5 times then half coke it ran 4 like 5 min tride to start it agin would not even hit i pulled it like 10 times and nothing...................... it has a champion plug so that could be it :confused:

As mentioned above re: gas cap...there is usually a little vent hole in the top of the gas cap; make sure it is not clogged. My mower would start then die out as it starved for fuel. Easy way to check is take the cap off to release the vacuum, then replace. If it starts then dies, repeat the process, then you'll know.
