View Full Version : Jada in NYC: where to find?
Hi guys,
I'll be in NYC in next november, and intend to spend some time searching for some Jada models, wich are not very cheap in my homeland, Brazil.
So, i have a few questions, and i hope you have find some time to help me.
Here we go:
1 - The best places to buy Jada models in Manhattan are...? Does KB Mart have a good variety of models? How about WalMart?
2 - I've found many internet stores with many diferent models available. Can all these models be found at phisycal stores?
3 - Newbbie question: what's "hobby exclusive"? Products only available in toy stores?
4 - How much do you pay in 1:24 and 1:64 models (average price)?
5 - Are the Cobras 1:24 easy to find???
Thanks a lot,
Luciano.
madmanmark 08-22-2006, 10:08 AM The best places in Manhattan to find Jada are the Toys R Us in Times Square (an absolutely incredible store. The diecasts are located downstairs) and the Kay Bee in the mall at Herald Square (across the street from Macys, Broadway & 32nd).
Most of what's on the internet is available in physical stores.
Hobby exclusive is available thru hobby shops only and not thru mass marketers
1/24 scale averages about 10.00 USD, 1/64 scale about 4.00 USD
I've seen the 1/24 Cobra in red, black, and silver
Hope this helps.
Madmanmark,
Thanks, you helped me a lot!
So, Toys R Us and Kay Bee i'l are considered hobby shops, right?
And just one more question: do you know EXOTICAR, a store located at Park Avenue & 48th Street? if so, is it a good place to find jada too?
I'll sure check the stores you indicated, but i want to have as many options as possible.
Thanks,
Luciano.
madmanmark 08-22-2006, 01:46 PM Toys R Us and Kay Bee are not considered hobby shops. Your best bet for the hobby only cars is an online dealer.
Exoticar is a great store, but your chances of finding Jada there are very slim. They do, however, have the best selection of 1/18 and 1/43 cars I've ever seen. It's definitely worth a look.
MAdmanmark,
as i said before, you really helped me A LOT!!
Quantum 08-22-2006, 03:45 PM There are no Walmarts in NYC - they've been allowed by people who know better.
TRU Times Square is great for Jada and JL, somtimes HW Classics. I've found good stuff at the KMart in Penn Station (7th and 34).

I didnt know that.. I'll try KMart.
(...) the Kay Bee in the mall at Herald Square (across the street from Macys, Broadway & 32nd).
Would that be the KB Toys in Manhattam Mall???

That's the one. Lower level.
madmanmark 08-23-2006, 06:53 AM Hey Quantum, where in NYC are you?

I work at 1 Madison Ave, and ride the LIRR between Penn and Baldwin.
madmanmark 08-23-2006, 02:13 PM We ought to hook up sometime. By the way, Kman, I was in the K-Mart in Penn Station today and they have a reasonable selection of Jada including some 1/24 BTM Olds 442's and '65 Mustangs. The 1/64's looked a little thin, but you might find something good there. Also, they have the 1 Badd Ride Shelby GTR - a really nice model.
Sweet... i'll certainlly check all the stores you pointed.
My first idea was buy online e send the packages to the hotel, but with your help i've changed my mind to browse the physical stores. In the past i had packages sent to the hotel that were never delivered.
But i'm really afraid i won't be able to find the cobras, my favorite car ever, and maybe i'll take a chance on that online, despite that bad experience.
I gues the stores that sponsors the forum are reliable. Is that right?
madmanmark 08-24-2006, 08:36 AM I've seen the Cobras at Toys R Us.
I hope they''ll stil be available there in a couple of months...

From what I understand, Target has opened a couple of stores in Manhattan, but I don't know where (Quantum, do you?). Target has a pretty good selection of Jada and the ones by me just recently restocked.

Not yet - closest are Jersey City and Bronx(?).
