Well you certainly can't keep something on the TV for ten years that has any quaility or anything...

There is hope, though. According to Gateworld.net (http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/08/cooper_isg-1i_will_go_on.shtml), they (the producers) have a plan on how to keep SG-1 together in some form that they aren't ready to reveal yet.

Still,

Been there, done that.

Stargate Infinity.

Do not go there.

These among other hip clichés will be available upon request.

Those people have no frikin' sense. A nicely made show and they're gonna chuck it ...so they can spend their money on crappy movie-of-the-week style junk. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Thanks, Baba...did not know that. Even the synopsis looks trashy. I was speaking fondly of the Star Trek TAS treatment. sigh..not to be :(

I'm wondering it Lloyd's phone conversion at the end of "200" might be eluding to something. :freak: Of course I could be wrong.

I was wondering the same thing myself...seems to be an allusion to the on-again off-again SG-1 movie.

What's really strange is that this year was the first time since the 4th season that they had contracts and storylines in place for next year.

I can understand the reason they're doing this. I haven't been able to watch it since RDA left the leading role. That, and I don't like the English woman--too irritating and pointless a character. She reminds of that really irritating fellow on SG:Atlantis who makes that show unwatchable for me.

Hey, 10 years is an incredible accomplishment for a sci fi series. I'll miss it, but I won't be too sad.

Browder and Black must be thinking "oh god, we killed another show!" ;lol:

And they'd be right!

You're right, though--10 years is a great run for ANY show. I still enjoy watching some episodes of SG1 that I've already seen and that says a lot in my book.

Yeah, I have no clue why folks are gettin' so upset over this. SG-1 has had a great run, has a large fan base and has gone way beyond what Devlin & Emmerich did w/the movie. I have no problem w/when RDA left, as I was hoping for some new blood to liven things up a bit as I felt it was in to the early stages of staleness. It's just a shame that they brought Browder and Black in at such a point where the series is starting to sort of wind down.

And please, for God's sake don't stop watching SG-1 just to spite SFC! All you'll do is send them the wrong message!

From www.multichannel.com/article/CA6332083.html, talking about MGM (which creates the show):

But MGM has big plans. Executive vice president Charles Cohen (see related story) says MGM “intends” to develop a theatrical movie “derived from the series over the last 10 years” that would ideally “dovetail” into a third Stargate television show.

Theatricals would “not in any way impair” SG1's television run, he asserts. He believes it's possible for three Stargate series to air concurrently, not unlike the Law & Order franchise. “If you look at SG-1 — with bringing in Claudia [Black], Ben [Browder] and Beau [Bridges] — we've retooled the series with it still being SG-1. I'd like to see SG-1 go another 10 years. I love the show. I'd like to keep it on forever and keep adding to it.”

Well, the Stargate Worlds MMORPG was supposed to have tie-ins to particular storylines and events during the show(s).

http://www.stargateworlds.com/

Also, I've been noticing that SciFi will drop a popular, albeit expensive, show for another popular show.

I think they can only fund 3 higher production shows and currently those are SG-1, Atlantis and Eureka. Come fall we will have Atlantis, Eureka and Galactica (if SG-1 doesn't continue through the fall). It could be either Eureka or SG-1 as that 3rd show.

If the rumors I've been hearing are true and the bit about NBC U shows being pushed to Sci-Fi we could maybe see Surface continue. Which would mean, probably Eureka being cut.

SG1 was actually picking up for me again with the Ori stroyline, after a few years of pointlessness. Atlantis I'm not as fond of...if one of them had to go, I'd have preferred keeping SG1.

And a third series? Gee, sounds like a golden opportunity for Berman & Braga... Seriously, there's precious little difference between the first two - how's a third going to distinguish itself?

Actually the only time I had got down on SG1 was when they replaced Shanks, I have enjoyed some of the newer episodes, and they have had a few not so good ones as well, but I don't think RDA exit is that big a deal overall, I would just like to see it continue as long as they have a good story to tell, the same with Atlantis.

Check out Atlantis again, Jeff. The last two episode have been like a whole new staff took over. Really good, well-written and well-produced storylines.

I couldn't watch It after Anderson left, Claudia Black, Ben Browder just screamed fargate/starscape to me, I was always alittle miffed that farscape diddn't make It for another season I really felt that last episode was more a hanger than an ending.

I was hoping that once SG-1 got rid of "the BIG THREAT" (again)
that they would return to exploration leading to good science-fiction
stories.

Sad that you don't have enough of an open mind to try the new mix. It's actually pretty good, IMNSHO.

Er... Are you aware of "Farscape: PeaceKeeper War"? That pretty much wraps things up for the series, tho leaves it open for more.

Don't forget, they have also been airing CSI.

SciFi really irritates me.
On one hand, they bring us these great shows, but then they turn around and kill them when they are really hitting their stride and doing well.
Reminds me a lot of FOX, though without the hairtrigger, that kills good shows before they even find their legs.

SG1 has really been interesting and fun.
I liked the way they plug in new characters when old ones leave.
Yes I missed Daniel, but I liked his replacement as well.
Same for O'neal.
The new chemistry has been interesting and revitalizing. It adds new dynamics, and opens up new ways to go with things.
I hope they find a way to keep the series going. If not on SciFi then somewhere else.
At the minimum, I would love to see a full theatrical movie to send the series off with.

Yeah I haven't seen those shows either. Are you guys sure that's not some local affiliate thing?

Sort of OT, but does anyone know what the deal is with that SGA character that went rogue? I liked his character/actor and they replaced him with that guy who spins his guns....you know, the guy who does the stupid action movie stuff that they made fun of in the SG1 200th episode?

Ford? I think he's gone. I guess they couldn't think of anything else to do with him, so they're just ignoring him.

Not in the current schedule, but not to long ago, they aired some during prime time.
Some kind of ratings gimick I believe.

1) I thought TNT had the rights to plain jane Law & Order
2) You sure you don't mean Spike? They went gung ho with CSI (still do I'm afraid)

The wrestling thing on SciFi is WAY off base though.

I mean Dr Who, Cylons and Kurt Angle? How does that work?

Oh wait, now I remember. They were showing some of the darker psycho-serial killer episodes or something, weren't they?
