View Full Version : Question about Nitro Coupes
Blackdog 08-20-2006, 10:29 PM  Hi all, I am not a die hard MM collector, over the last couple of years I've just picked up the ones that I really liked. The Nitro Coupes, I thought were great so I managed to pick up 6 of them #'s NC03-01 thru 06. Now for the question, how many NC'S are there total and how many releases were there ? I would really like to get the entire set if that's possible. I have tried Ebay and The Toy Peddler, but haven't seen any besides the ones I already have. I have some trading material or would be willing to buy the ones I am missing if some one could help me out. Thanks for the read.

Pablodragon 08-21-2006, 12:01 AM I could have sworn there was 2 releases of these with anywhere from 4 to 6 cars in each release... they hung on the pegs so long, I just can't remember the last time I looked at them....
so u must have tried this search alaready....

interesting, on this search, looking at a couple auctions that came up with the 37 Ford, Hot and Nasty, saw 2 auctions of the car with an orange roof/top...matches the photo card, and 2 others with a silver topped car, doesn't match the photo card, it's the same photo card tho
Pablodragon 08-21-2006, 12:06 AM ...oh and by the way, I hope you've got some of these open...the detail is great on these...especially the removable front clip...I've seen guys use the motor from these on other brand customs.....
69Stang 08-21-2006, 09:53 PM Greetings Blackdog! I agree, these are just cool cars. And boy, is Pablo right...GREAT Detail. LIst what you have, I know of 8 in the correct colors.
And that is all I collect in a racing replica, is the real color. Otherwise it's not a racing replica! Let me know what you have and I will look for you down here ( TN ), we have a lot of Big Lots that have them.

Dadvball 08-21-2006, 11:09 PM To the best of my knowledge, there were two releases. Both had six cars. In the first release all the cars were in the original colors, as shown on the cards. The NC03-01 to 06 you have is the first release.
I had managed to find them in a Target in California while on vacation when they were first released only to have my son leave the bag on the floor in the airport after arriving home. Needless to say they disappeared. Took a few months to find them all around here.
The second release, unfortunately, was the same six cars, but in different colors, none of which were original. The card showed the original color, but the car was different. These you can find in Big Lots for about $2 each. I usually but a few when I'm in there to use the engines and tires in customs.
I've been hoping they would do more of this type of car, but nothing so far.
Blackdog 08-22-2006, 10:19 PM Thanks for the responses guys, wish I had paid more attention when these were new on the pegs. The 6 cars I have are the ones in the original colors and were all one release I think. The other 6 I'm looking for include a 55 Chevy and two 57 Chevys, what the other 3 cars are I don't know. Hopefully I will eventually find them. Thanks for your help.
69Stang 08-23-2006, 08:14 AM OK guys, I am looking at 9 different castings, with 8 being a match to the enclosed card. I have one that is the correct car in the same color as the cars, but with different grapgics? I will list them all tonight when I have a bit more time. I am hoping to learn more myself.
DA BOB 08-23-2006, 09:40 PM there was 3 sets of the nitro coupes 6 each set first 2 were the 6 diff drivers -new paint in the second series- set 3 was 6 new cars 2 were 57 chevys can't remeber what the other 4 were as i only got the 57's big lots were selling series 2 cars prob still are!!!!
Dadvball 08-24-2006, 11:48 PM Anyone got pics of the 3rd series? I had never even heard about them, much less see them in any store. Were they hobby release only?
straightnnarrow 08-26-2006, 02:16 AM I only saw the third release in one Target store and grabbed the 57's, red and black. I had to open one and the other is still in the package buried in a box. I think those are the only 2 I bought but I could be wrong. If I can dig them out I will put up more pics, enjoy...Clark

69Stang 08-26-2006, 07:13 AM What great pics! Thanks for sharing. I have that one in one of my mixed display cases ( along with the black one). These are on the Muscle Machine web site as Release A ( the only release showing) but I do agree with DaBob that this set may have come last. I just remember the other cars first ( in my very OLD memory, I have slept since then!) but don't hold me to it.
I am still looking for the '55 orange Chevy and the red '92 Camaro. I taged on with BlackDog's thread ( by the way thanks for bringing this topic up). I am off the Nashville for the largest flea / antuique (sp?) show in the state. MAybe I will return with my missing cars!
See YA
