Mark #10 08-21-2006, 02:27 AM Sonny,
Is it possible to get run lines of some of these tracks? I've seen pics of Green Bay, and Summit, but not of CFEX. Even with the pics........they can be deceiving.
 Mark
Mark, CEFX is pretty much a Snowbirds track. I believe the carpet is 40' x 90' with a 12 or 16' infield. Its very smooth and fast. I think we ran 63 laps in 4 minutes. 2.60 rollout.
Summit is a smaller version of Snowbirds with bumps -- fun track.
yokman 08-21-2006, 08:42 AM we have been getting 78 laps at summit.
Z-Main Loser 08-21-2006, 07:29 PM we have been getting 78 laps at summit.
I think 80 is possible. I turned a couple of 3.6s and mostly 3.7s. That was in July after the carpet had sat for about 3 months. I'm not consistant enough to run those times every lap so I know 80 can be done at Summit. The runline is about 144'.
HobbyPLEX 08-21-2006, 08:49 PM HobbyPLEX Omaha, NE has a 180' runline. 72/5:00 track record for 4300 from our last race in March.

if memory serves me right....I think a certain Flourecent Red #15 has that track record?!?
I believe that would be the Sonny guy. LOL
Mayhem Racing 08-22-2006, 11:29 AM They should share it, that was one of the best races in recent Hobbyplex history. :dude:
Shane
Hey AJ
How you doing Shane, looking forward to seeing you at the fall race in Omaha.
Scooter Tekin 08-23-2006, 12:44 AM Why is only the LRP and Novak Brushless esc legal. I would think that the difference would be that everyone should run the same motor if you want to make it equal. This really makes no sense as a manufacture now I have to build a speedo like everyone else builds or you can't use it.
What are the rules as to what a speedo has to be? Is there some kind of limit that I have to build one. So if you were running a brushed league you could only use certain esc for that as well.

At the moment Novak and LRP are the industry leaders in sensored brushless technology and the only two that have product on the market. Most racers in the brushless world already own one brand or the other. They have a proven track record so to keep things simple it’s only makes sense that they would already be approved.
I have no problems taking a look at other systems. If you have a new product that you would like submit then I suggest you contact me direct. All product would need to be available to the public by October 1st to be eligible for the upcoming Winter season. Products released after October 1 will be considered for our Summer series
You can contact me at sbrown15@insightbb.com or you can call me at Horizon.

Bob Wright 08-23-2006, 09:20 PM did i just read something about a "summer league"also?
I hope this will be "real" racing on cap tires.
17driver 08-23-2006, 10:47 PM I hope this will be "real" racing on cap tires.
That would be great!
latemodel100 08-23-2006, 10:54 PM Anyone racing in the Sportsman Stock Class this sounds like a good class......
Sonny B 08-24-2006, 12:01 AM Yok and Bob, - Still a long way off but if things go well with this Winter series it’s likely we will put something together next Summer.
Latemodel 100- Should be a great class. I’ve probably had contact form about 25 drivers that are planing to run Sportsman Stock this season.
SDL98 08-24-2006, 12:03 AM Summer series on capps???????? I like
jimmy24 08-24-2006, 12:05 AM i am in on the stock class, unlike most racers, i have always race with the bodies closed up and no wing, i love it  bless you sonny brown
hyperdriver 08-24-2006, 01:12 AM Im not real crazy about the stock body rules, but I guess Ill give it a shot for one weekend.

Marshalltown, Iowa and I am there I don't do the cap tire thing very well and i love Carpet oval, but Marshalltown is a great place to race.
B mullins 08-24-2006, 06:54 PM I just saw on the roar link that the weight is 41oz's. Is the brl going to use this weight or last yrs weight of 40? Just thought i would ask...
Thanks Sonny

Sonny B 08-25-2006, 12:31 AM We will most likely stay at 40oz.
Just want to let everyone know now that I’m going to push back the release date on the rules package until September 18th. Couple of reason for this one I need a little more time to finish writing them up. I have some up coming vacation time should help with this. (Keep in ming I’m working on more then just class rules for the new BRL rule book.)
I also want to do a little more track testing to confirm a few theories. I don’t expect any major changes form the class rules outlined on page 1, just want to take the time to make sure it’s right from the start.
Sonny, I'm sure you've seen the huge discussion on the Oval General Discussion about battery rules. That would be something to look at. When the series starts, 4200's will be the battery of choice, but by the end it probably will be past that. While I don't have a suggestion (whatever it is it will be wrong to someone), I'm sure you'll consider the comments on there.
A suggestion on the weight, and body rules -- Don't have rules on this for the top two classes. Just stock car bodies. No weight rule. At the IROAR race, the weight rule was curbed because everyone was over. I went through my whole car and got it to be 39 ounces. I don't see it possible to get it lighter than that. At some point, people will be sacrificing car integrity to make it lighter, and the rule will take care of itself. Then tech would be easier. We don't really have specific rules in local racing, and the racing is so close.
Maybe just battery, motor, and ground clearance in tech.
jflack 08-25-2006, 05:38 PM I think 41 or maybe 42 oz would be better, since the BL motors and Speed controllers are heavier. I could get my car to 39oz if I spend a EXTRA $1000.00 on the super lite crap!!!!!!!! The weight rule isn't for slowing the cars down, its to save us money! I've been thru the GOTTA Have the latest super lite go fast thingy, don't need to go there again. I like having to put $3 of lead on my car to make weight!!!! My 19 turn car isn't under 40oz and the BL car is 3 oz heavier.....I hope to make at least a couple of the races.......
Bob Wright 08-25-2006, 06:18 PM Sorry Dave I'd have to agree with Jimmy on this one even though my car is only 40 oz on foams I think 41oz would be plenty light enough.
Z-Main Loser 08-25-2006, 07:54 PM 41 or 42 oz would also be better me as well. Without cutting the chassis up I'm pushing 43 right now.
Sonny B 08-25-2006, 07:56 PM Dave Z thanks for the suggestions. I don’t want the BRL to have an open rules policy like the Word of Outlaws but I don’t plan to be so strict that we need the FIA to come in and enforce it like an F-1 race. We’ll find a nice balance with goal to keep it fair and fun.

I know you will. This will be a lot of fun.
hobbyten 08-27-2006, 07:33 PM we got our first test of the 13.5 today. what a great motor we ran 2 to 3 tenths slower than the 4300's on a short track similar to allen's in size. the only problem we had was trying to figure out the gearing but it came to us. in the main the top 3 all beat the tq mark for the day. this was done as the BRL will run with only a spoiler but we did have the back of the bodies cut out.

Awesome. I’ve had lots of e-mail and phone call from guys interested in the 13.5 class. Sound like the stock class is going to have a strong turnout.
Sprintcar11 08-28-2006, 08:03 PM Would this esc be legal? Its already available, bought one saturday.

No it's not yet approved. Also mass availability is questionable right now.
jenzorace 09-19-2006, 02:23 PM Sonny do you think we could get special prices for bsr tires? and will they be available at the tracks. Im gunna need alot of tires...
Sonny B 09-19-2006, 02:36 PM Sorry that one is out of my control, I'm pretty sure most of the tracks on the tour stock BSR's.
If your the local track or shop does not have them then give Hays a call at Lefthander R/C. He will be happy to help.

Is there any other place to say that is close?
Danny B 10-10-2006, 11:48 AM you can get to the south side of cedar rapids in around 30-35mins give or take depending on how fast you drive. There you have all kinds of hotels and eateries. 6th st and 33rd Ave SW there are half a dozen hotels, all the fast food joints, perkins, happy chef, 1 or 2 Chinese restaurants, 33rd Ave Sports Bar and Grill at the Clairon Hotel(i think) is nice too.
It's 32 miles to the area I described in CR and 14 Miles to the Super 8 Out on the interstate.
All and all it's about 15 min more to have all the "big city" amenities
